It seems that the hand-to-hand action movie genre is once again turning its gaze to strong female characters. Over the past year, such projects as the Hollywood "Explosive Blonde", South Korean "Villain" and independent "Lady Bloodbattle". No fewer similar films are planned for 2018.
On par with the upcoming Philippine film "Combat readiness", where a woman also got the leading role, an action movie called "Test purchase" (Buy Bust), obviously inspired by hit films such as "Raid" и "Raid 2".
Project Buy Bust belongs to the producer, screenwriter and director Eric Mati (“The ABCs of Death 2”), who is entirely in charge of the future film. The main role in the action film was played by a Filipino-American actress Anne Curtis (“The Gifted,” “Blood Ransom”).
The film took two years to film. The filmmakers paid special attention to the action choreography, which was handled by a veteran stuntman Sonny Sisa. His portfolio includes more than 50 projects. From the latter, Sisa has worked on series such as "Hawaii 5.0" и "Iron Fist", as well as the recent action film by Alexander Nevsky "Showdown in Manila". Let’s hope that Sisa will do a better job on “Test Purchase” than on Nevsky’s “hit.”
The film is about two special forces teams that must initiate an operation for a false purchase of drugs. Their goal is to bust a drug laboratory in the Manila slums. However, as usual, something goes wrong and those involved in the operation are in for a difficult evening.
But Anne Curtis, an MMA champion took part in the action movie Brandon Vera, for which "Test purchase" will be her film debut. However, these are the only familiar names in the cast.
The film is due out in 2018, but the creators have not yet announced the exact release date. But a trailer for the future action film has already appeared online.

Canadian independent film director is preparing his own action film Jonathan Straiton, whose best known work is the horror film "Strange Night" (2016). By the way, Straiton's new film will also be a horror film, but with elements of hand-to-hand combat.
The future project is called Johnny Z. The film tells the story of a guy named Johnny, who is half zombie and half living person. He dreams of taking revenge on the evil corporation that created him. Johnny gets this opportunity when he meets a martial arts master on his way who is ready to teach him everything he knows.
The creators describe their film as a cross between "Land of the Dead" с "Raid".
Straiton has already entered into an agreement with a distribution company Black Mandala, which will distribute "Johnny Z". However, first the project must reach the final part of the budget. To do this, Straiton turned to the power of a crowdfunding resource IndieGoGo, where everyone can support the project with a pretty penny.
The fight choreography in the film is handled by Dylan Hinz, who worked on projects such as TV series "Agent" и "Gotham", as well as a feature film "One penny" (2017)
The acting ensemble consists of the following people: stuntman and actor Felix Cortes ("The King's Blade"), as well as actors from Straiton's previous film "Strange Night" Michael Merchant, Trey Harrison и Wayne W. Johnson.

The last film in today's selection is actively promoted by the star of the 1985 hand-to-hand action film "The Last Dragon" - Taimak. Taimak's new project is called "Master" (Master).
Taimak describes his project as a film inspired by classic works Shaw Brothers, as well as imperishables Akira Kurosawa и Sergio Leone. In Taimak's "The Master" there will be no CGI, shaky cameras and endless doubles; everything is planned to be shot as naturalistically as possible.
