Hugh Jackman is the new Robin Hood
Hugh Jackman is going to trade his claws for a set of bow and arrows. He signed on to play the legendary folk hero, Robin Hood, in a film by a “young” writer and director. Michael Sarnoski "Death of Robin Hood” (The Death of Robin Hood) with Jodie Comer (The Last Duel).
The film is described as a more visceral and grounded take on the Robin Hood story:
Struggling with his past after a life of crime and murder, a battle-weary loner finds himself severely wounded and falls into the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation. These are the last days of the outlaw Robin Hood.
It looks like this will be the first film about this character that will not romanticize murder and robbery as heroic deeds, and will show the underbelly of the life of a professional criminal. Maybe even drama? It will come in handy for variety.
“This was an incredible opportunity to reinvent and update the story of Robin Hood as we all know it. It was very important to find the perfect cast to bring the script to the screen. I am very excited and have faith that Hugh and Jodie will bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.”
Sarnoski said.
Filming is scheduled to begin in February 2025.
“Jackpot” with John Cena
Director Paul Feig (Spy) presents the action comedy “Jackpot” (Jackpot) with a former professional wrestler, John Cena (Peacemaker), Akwafina (Ocean's 8) and Sim Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).
The film follows new Los Angeles transplant Katie (Awkwafina), who accidentally ends up with a winning lottery ticket that makes her a target in the Big Lottery, a new competition in economically distressed California that allows others to claim the ticket (and its prize) if they will kill the winner before sunset.
John Cena plays defender Awkwafina, which should help her survive. A Sim Liu will try to take the reward for himself.
Paul Feig said it would be like the movies Jackie Chan, which feature a lot of action and comedy. Loud, of course... but we'll see.
