Review of the film "One Percent Warrior" by Eoin Friel

Despite a somewhat slow start, "One Percent Warrior" - this So Sakaguchi at its best, with amazing action scenes and excellent pacing that makes this film truly worth watching.

Plot

A legendary, aging action star finds himself drawn into real-life violence when rival yakuza factions infiltrate the set of his latest film. Caught in the middle of chaos and a mounting death toll, will his martial arts prowess be enough to save him?

Review

So Sakaguchi stars in this meta action thriller where he appears as an action actor looking to get back to "real action". He gets a great opportunity when criminals invade the set of his latest film.

The action moves slowly in the first 30 minutes of the film, but it's worth it as we witness Tak dispatch his enemies with ease... right up to the climactic showdown, which is probably the most impressive moment of the entire film.

I've mentioned before that Tak Sakaguchi is one of my favorite on-screen fighters, and he embodies a type of calm and quiet confidence that isn't often seen these days. His unique "wave" fighting style stands out among other martial arts.

The Blu-ray features an in-depth interview with Tak where he talks about where he gets his impressive skills from and also mentions that one of the scenes is inspired by "Rurouni Kenshin". This becomes obvious when you watch the film.

  • "Rurouni Kenshin" (or "Samurai X"). It is a Japanese manga series that has also been adapted into anime and films.

"One Percent Warrior"Or"1%er", as it is also known, delights us with its 85 minutes of delightful plot, so despite a slightly slow start, once the action begins, it does not let up until the end of the film.

I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, which came out of nowhere and made me think... "What the heck?" But despite this, the film is one of the best action films of the year, which actually demonstrates "real" action.

Generally, "One Percent WarriorIt takes a while for the action to pick up steam, but when it does, the wait is worth it, giving us some tough fight scenes with Taka Sakaguchi at his stoic best.

The film is not bad, but the recent "City Hungter" is better in terms of action.

As stated in the review footer, the author is Eoin Friel. In the text of the review, he wrote that he watched the film on Blu-ray. It seems that it is not visible on the network yet. However, I can recommend finding the VK public page “Cinema with Fists”, where he will probably appear. As soon as possible.
