Let's move a little away from the upcoming high-profile releases and B-movies, and take a walk through the niche of fan, auteur and independent action films. Fortunately, freelance filmmakers have plenty of interesting projects. We can remember just a few of those we are waiting for: "Shiloh", "Plan b", "Jail break", "Beyond redemption", "Dangerous Element", Ghost Source Zero and many others. However, we will add a few more to the list of expected projects.
Let's start with the Philippine mystical action movie "Blood Warriors: Rise of the Hybrids" (Blood Hungters: Rise of the Hybrids) director and screenwriter Vincent Soberano, who may be known to visitors to our site for his role as a boxer in the underground fights from the film "Police Story 2013" with Jackie Chan. Vincent shares the director's chair with a stuntman, producer and director of independent films. Jeff Centari (Shira: Vampire Samurai).

My main motivation for making Warriors of Blood is to improve the viewer's opinion of Philippine martial arts. We have to change people's minds about this. Movie makers have used Filipino martial arts in blockbuster action films like John Wick, Jason Bourne, Frankenstein and many others, but no one knows the Filipino masters because they are always played by Hollywood stars. The time has come when I'm ready to show them.
In addition to Soberano, the film featured: Meiling Ng ("Lady Bloody Fight") Roxanne Barceló ("Felix Manalo") Monsour Del Rosario ("Heart: The First Vampire"), Sarah Chang (“Bleeding Steel”) and others.
There is already an official synopsis of the film: Gabriella is on the warpath with hybrids - half-demons, half-humans who killed her entire family. To do this, she finds and teams up with the best demon hunters, whose team is called “Slashers,” and the hybrid killer, the loner Bolo. Together they will form an alliance with the warlords of the underworld - Naga and Gundra, but people do not suspect that they are just pawns in a deadly game.
The release date for this film is unknown at this time. We can only hope that the film will reach the viewer in at least some form. In the meantime, we offer you a trailer for viewing.
The next film from the selection will be an original film by a music video director and short film director Thomas Eikrem called "Accelerator" (Le Accelerator). This film is pure crime art house in black and white, but we are interested in the participation of a Danish martial artist and actor in it David Sakurai.
You may know Sakurai from his participation in such independent projects as "Dark Samurai" (2014) and "Killer Karate" (2017), as well as in the series from Netflix and Marvel "Iron Fist". In addition, Sakurai took part in the upcoming action film by Isaac Florentine "Stoic" starring Antonio Banderas and Karl Urban.
There is no synopsis for the film yet, but the film has slogans that can tell something (possibly) about the plot of the film: “Fear of death follows from fear of life”; “A person who lives life to the fullest is always ready for death.”
An interesting fact is that the film was entirely shot on an 8mm film camera.
In addition to David Sakurai, the film stars: Liz Carr (TV series "Silent Witness") Dan van Hoosen (“Special Forces “Cobra”), porn actress Olga Kabaeva, as well as a renowned scholar of Chinese cinema, journalist, screenwriter, producer and actor Bay Logan ("Medallion").
Alas, it is not known when the film will go to film festivals or be released on media. Nothing is known yet, but the trailer for “Accelerator” has already appeared online. We will introduce you to him.
Even less is known about the next independent project. We are talking about the stunt team's own feature film Jaika Stunt Team from Thailand, which includes a film fighter we know well Patrick "Kazoo" Tang (“Rebel”, “Rocky Handsome”). The film has the most unattractive title - "Monster" (Monster).
The film was directed by a fight choreographer, stuntman and actor. Kesha Hamphakdi, who played in films such as "Time does not wait" и "Asian Connection", and was involved in choreography in the Indian hits of 2016 "Rebel", "Flying Jatt" и "Rocky Handsome".
It is unknown when the film will be released, what it will be about, and who is starring in it, except for Patrick Tang, who also took on the duties of editor and action director.
