New year - new news. Well... Let's go!
Visitors to our site are well aware of the American character actor Frank Grillo, who today can easily be called a hero of (albeit budget) action films. Which, however, does not prevent him from appearing in more notable projects, such as films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Chinese box office hit "War of the Wolves 2" (2017) or paintings from Netflix.
In the past year, 55-year-old Frank pleased fans of action films with roles in some very good projects, and more recently it became known that the producer and director of the trilogy "Skyline" - Liam O'Donnell offered Grillo the main role in the fourth film about the confrontation between earthlings and aggressive aliens.
Yes, yes, we made a mistake! Company vertical entertainment and O'Donnell are still planning to film "Skyline 4"! Let's remember that Frank played a major role in the second part franchise, sharing leading roles with the Indonesian Iko Uwaisom. It is curious that in third film, the action of which takes place a couple of decades after the events of the second character Frank Grillo did not have. However, it may well be returned.
There are no more details...unlike O'Donnell's other project...
We're talking about a post-apocalyptic hand-to-hand action movie. "The Last Savage". The fact that Layam decided to make a film where the main “star” should be the Indonesian martial art “silat”, we wrote a couple of years ago. But O'Donnell threw himself into filming the third "Skyline" and the project was postponed.
However, recently in an interview the director answered the following when asked about the status of the project:
This is my “white whale” that I still chase. It's a post-apocalyptic gladiator film set in Indonesia after a massive cataclysm. He worked with me on the last part of this story. Derek Kolstad, - screenwriter of the John Wick films.
Unfortunately there is no more information about the project. After all, if the film does happen, we should expect familiar names in the cast. With famous silat masters Iko Uwaisom и Yayan Ruhian the director has already worked in the second "Skyline". We can only wait for news and look at the teaser posters for the future action movie, which O'Donnell kindly shared with journalists.
I think it's an Indonesian director Raniet S. Marwa I decided to grab some projects in reserve. On the one hand, this is good, because he works with compatriots known in the “hand-to-hand” environment and not only. On the other hand, it is absolutely clear that we are talking about extremely modest tailoring projects.
We, of course, are waiting for his bloody thrillers with stars "Raids" - "Blood Tide" и "The Chosen". But we can safely attribute a new project from Marva to them - an action movie called "She-Wolves" (Wolves).
Raniet, as usual, is producing, writing and directing the upcoming film. The film will be produced by his film company. Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures Ltd. in collaboration with Silent D Pictures and producer Johnny Chan.
According to the concept, the film will be a bloody thriller about a woman’s revenge on criminals in the spirit of the John Wick films or the duology "Kill Bill".
Synopsis: Tora is a former professional killer who has gone from violence to a quiet life. However, the demons of the past are not so easy to kill. One day, Tora loses her husband and newborn son, who were executed by unknown killers. Now the woman is again drawn into the maelstrom of bloody events.
Interestingly, the names of two women included in the acting ensemble are already known. And these are familiar to us Hannah Al Rashid ("Cowboys", "Gundala") and Julia Estell (“Raid 2”, “Raid: Bullet in the Head”, “Foxtrot Squad”). True, it is not specified which of the actresses is assigned the main positive role. Perhaps this time the “good” one will be Hannah, who will take revenge from her brutal fight with Estelle in the film "Night is coming for us" (2018)
Well... Let's keep our finger on the pulse and wait for news.
Let’s finish our selection of today’s news with another independent project, for which its creators are asking fans of action films to donate.
We're talking about an upcoming (hopefully) web series called Project H at the helm of which is a martial arts practitioner and a famous Hollywood stuntman Aaron Toney, whose track record includes blockbusters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a duology "Collectors" with Scott Adkins "Bunraku" (2010) "War of the Wolves 2" (2017) and many other projects.
It’s interesting that Tony’s new material will be part of the universe he showed in the long-term short film "Throne". Despite the fact that for some reason Aaron deleted the film from his channel, we managed to watch it and became interested in what was happening.
Tony invited his fans and simply not indifferent people to “chip in” for a full-fledged story, conceptually very similar to his short film. To do this, he created a fundraising company on the site Indiegogo.
Producers invited to the project Jason Sweet и Linda Jewell, with whom Tony has already worked, as well as numerous professionals in their field. The fact is that Aaron promises the viewer fight scenes of a new generation from those who themselves are fans of various martial arts and stunt styles.
Studios are at the reins of production Halvon Corp. Entertainment и Global Forge Studios.
Of course, the company may not collect all the funds that the creators are asking for. Project H – this happens all the time. But if Tony collects the required amount, who knows, maybe a truly high-quality product will emerge, even from the standpoint of independent cinema. In any case, if you suddenly want to chip in for the implementation of the project, you are welcome here.
A famous stuntman and fight choreographer joined the project Yoshi Sudarso (TV series "Power Rangers: Ninja Steel", "Cowboys", "Paper Tigers").
