There are only a few weeks left before the Taiwanese director, Hou Xiaoxian will show his extreme work, "Assassin" (orig. "Nie yin niang", int. "The Assassin") at its premiere in Cannes. The film almost spans a decade in its long journey from early concepts, until now. And, to the satisfaction of the expectations of those who are interested in this picture, its first frames appeared.
Journalists from Film Stage this week showed a batch of five new shots of the film, with the actress Shu Qi, who played the main role. You can see them below, along with previously presented images:

Summary
China, 9th century. A general's ten-year-old daughter is kidnapped by monks and trained in martial arts, turning her into an excellent assassin to eliminate the cruel and corrupt local governors. One day, when she failed to cope with the task, her mistress sends her back to her homeland, with orders to kill the man to whom she was promised - a cousin who owns the largest military district in Northern China. After 13 years of exile, a young woman must confront her parents, her memories and her long-suppressed feelings. Guided by the orders of her mistress, the main character must choose: to sacrifice the man she loves, or to leave the path of righteous killers forever.
