Netflix is adapting Avatar: The Last Airbender and Baahubali into TV series + This is how Sakaguchi masters crowdfunding

It seems to be an American entertainment company Netflix, which supplies films and series for streaming media, is very serious about large-scale projects. You probably already know that the company is developing a film adaptation of the cult fantasy saga "The Witcher" Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, but that’s not all. If you carefully follow the news on our website, then you also know about the series Wu Assassins, in which action movie actors who need no introduction will play Iko Uwais и Mark Dacascos.

But the news that came from outside the company recently again drew the attention of fans of hand-to-hand action in cinema to Netflix. The fact is that it was decided to film the famous fantasy animated series "Avatar: The Legend of Aang" (Avatar: The Last Airbender). The creators of the original show will develop the live-action series. Brian Konietzko и Michael DiMartino, and the production capacity will be used not only for streaming services Netflix, but also a children's broadcasting studio Nickelodeon.

The creators of the original animated series noted that they had long dreamed of an artistic adaptation of their work, and that now, after the not very successful 2010 film, they hope that the characters in the story will not be “whitened” this time, preserving their national characteristics. In turn, Melissa Cobb, vice president of children's and family content at Netflix, said that when adapting Avatar into a feature series, all the wishes of Brian and Mike will be taken into account. This will be done in order not to lose the “epic” nature of Aang’s world, filled with magic and adventure.

Recall that "Avatar" tells the story of young Aang, who, as the master of the four elements, must prevent a war between the nations of Air, Water, Earth and Fire.

As already noted, in 2010 there was already an attempt to film the story of Aang by director M. Find Shyamalan, but the film failed at the box office and was lukewarmly received by fans of the original. Then he played the main role Noah Ringer, - owner of a black belt in taekwondo. Despite the fact that “the boy has grown up a long time ago,” Noah may be called again to participate in the project. But, of course, no longer for the leading role.

Since the Avatar universe is closely tied to oriental martial arts, we can see familiar names in the cast of the future Netflix series. For example, Juju Chan, who starred in several projects for the streaming service: "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny", "Dragon Fist" and upcoming series Wu Assassins.

The series is promised to launch in 2019. Well, we just have to wait for news.

Let's not go far from Netflix, official representatives of the Indian branch of which announced that they would adapt the famous Bollywood duology by S.S. into a series. Rajumali "Baahubali".

The series is planned for two seasons and will tell the story before the events of the films. "Baahubali: Birth of a Legend" и "Baahubali: The End". Actually, the series received the subtitle "Rise of Shiwagami" (Baahubali: The Rise Of Sivagami). The streaming giant is going to invest heavily in the series, which should not be inferior to the duology in epicness and scope.

Let us recall that in the original, which in turn is based on novels Ananda Neelakanthana, we are talking about the warrior Shivudu and the beautiful warrior Avantika, and, accordingly, their adventures. Both films of 2015 and 2017 became box office hits in their homeland, and some episodes “settled” on the Internet for a long time in the form of memes.

The main roles in the films were played by prabhas и Rana Daggubati, but it is not yet known whether the actors will take part in the series. The plot of the future project is also still unknown. We only know that the first season will be available on the Netflix streaming channel in 2019.

So, we are also waiting for details and a trailer. We hope that the series will be as cool and pathetic as the films.

Мы already wrote about being an action movie actor So Sakaguchi and director Yuji Shimomura Instead of filming a new film, they decided to reincarnate the old one. It's about the movie "Crazy Musashi" (formerly “Blood of Wolves”), the release of which was shelved back in 2009.

The film is now under the producer’s “ownership” of Shimomura, who, together with Tak, decided to apply for a crowdfunding service so that the actor’s fans could sponsor the reshoots, post-production and release of the film.

Tak spoke about this on a TV show, where, among other things, he told stories about the filming process of his previous film "Rebirth". He doesn’t cheat on himself and again talks about the injuries received during filming. For example, in the hand-to-hand combat scenes in the film, Sakaguchi broke several fingers, which subsequently refused to bend into a fist. Therefore, Taku had to fight with an open palm.

So Sakaguchi in the movie Crazy Musashi.

What's interesting is company to raise funds for "Crazy Musashi" has already scored 143% of the planned amount, so the release of this 77-minute samurai action film can be expected.

There are no more details about the project. It is only known that a producer has joined the project Takayuki Ota. In addition, a teaser poster, stills and a small excerpt from the future film appeared.

      Anton Clemens,

It will come out. Where will he go? Fans will not forgive if the release does not take place. But there is no information about the release. It's unlikely that the film is worth waiting for this year :(
