Mark Dacascos, Tiger Chen and Yayan Ruhian in John Wick 3 and Nicolas Cage in the new film by Siono Sono

The release date for the third film in the franchise is getting closer. "John Wick" (May 17, 2019), the more information about the casting appears on the Internet. For example, not long ago there was a rumorthat the main negative role in the film "John Wick 3" (John Wick: Chapter 3) will be performed by a Japanese-American actor and legend of Japanese action cinema Hiroyuki Sanada. But this is not a complete list of familiar names involved in the filming of the film.

Like a bolt from the blue, on resources related to combat films, news appeared marked “lightning” that one of the significant roles in the third “Wick” will go to the star of hand-to-hand action films of the 90s Mark Dacascos (“Drive”, “The Crying Killer”). Who exactly Mark will play is still unknown, but from photos from the set it is clear that Dacascos will have a fight against Keanu Reeves, as well as a “plot” meeting with the hero Laurence Fishburne.

But that's not all. From the world of action cinema to John Wick 3 three more familiar names appeared: Indonesian stars "Raids" Yayan Ruhian (“Merantau”) and Chechep Arif Rahman (“The Gate”), as well as a Chinese film fighter Tiger Hu Chen (“And the monk came down from the mountains”), who is an old friend of Keanu Reeves from the trilogy "Matrix". Tiger previously starred in Reeves' directorial debut "Tai Chi Master" (2013) and worked as Keanu's personal trainer during preparation for the film "John Wick 2" (2017). It is unlikely that these three will be given significant roles, but we can already expect good action scenes from the upcoming film.

In addition to the action movie stars, Hollywood stars joined the third film in the franchise about the silent killer: Halle Berry (X-Men franchise) Jason Mantzoukas (“Dictator”) and Anjelica Huston (“The Addams Family 1-2”).

At the director's helm again is Chad Stahelski, and the stunt team is working on the action again 87eleven. They will definitely return to their roles from the first films: Ian McShane (“Jaw,” TV series “American Gods”), Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix trilogy) and Lance Reddick (TV series Lost). There are also rumors of a return to their roles Ruby Rose (“xXx: World Domination”) and rapper common (“Suicide Squad”), but in open sources they have not yet been added to the cast, as well as Hiroyuki Sanada.

But there are some interesting photos from the set of the third “Wick”, where Reeves’ hero is still cool and bearded, and Dacascos’s hero is bald and dangerous.

Mark Dacascos, Tiger Chen and Yayan Ruhian in John Wick 3 and Nicolas Cage in the new film by Siono Sono

Sion Sono - a famous Japanese filmmaker, who today has approximately the same status as a versatile director as Takashi Miike. Starting in the 80s with social short films and full-length love dramas, Sono grew into a self-sufficient director with his own vision of not only the material, but also the picture itself. Sion Sono is considered a master visionary of modern Japanese cinema, who works in completely different genres, not disdaining the theme of hand-to-hand cinema, which, of course, is wrapped in a kind of genre framework. Such, for example, were the films "Girls Without Pants: Kinobox 2" (2004) "Revelation of Love" (2008) "Why don't you play with me in Hell?" (2013) and "Clans of Tokyo" (2014). In the last two, Sono collaborated with the famous Japanese film director and director Takom Sakaguchi (“Confrontation”). Moreover, it was Sono who co-directed Sakaguchi’s original hand-to-hand action film "Blood of Wolves", which never saw the light of day.

Repeating the fate of another original Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura, rather than Takashi Miike, Sionu Sono American producers offered to shoot the film in the United States. By genre film with title "Prisoners of the Land of Ghosts" (Prisoners of the Ghostland) will be an action-comedy in a post-apocalyptic setting, and the main star of the film will be the long-released Nicolas Cage (“Off Face”, “Snake Eyes”, “Prophet”).

According to the Deadline news agency, the film will tell the story of a mysterious criminal with the modest name Hero (Cage), who is forced by a random twist of fate to save a girl who was kidnapped by certain forces. To do this, the Hero will have to go to a dark supernatural universe, where, together with this girl, they must have an evil curse binding them, and also escape from the reality known as “Ghostland”.

It is known that the distribution company XYZ Films, which was involved in the release of films such as "Raid" (2011) "At work" (2013) and "Jail break" (2017), has already acquired the distribution rights to Sion Sono's upcoming film.

Unfortunately, nothing more is known about the film, including details of the ensemble cast. Well, we hope that perhaps Sono will “drag” his friend Taka Sakaguchi to Hollywood, maybe even for some minor role or to stage action scenes. Taku, especially after the recent "Rebirths", it's time to change the situation.

In the meantime, we’re keeping our finger on the pulse about “Prisoners,” and we’re also waiting for a new comedy drama from Sono-san "The Fool and the Wonderful World", which was released in Japan April 6 2018 years, and his production project is a Chinese cyberpunk action film "Dreambreaker" director Han Yan.

Somehow Dacascos’s image is strange, it doesn’t suit him, in my opinion. The clothes seem to be too big, and the bald guy is more funny than cool. But this is of course my personal opinion. :)

I can’t even believe that Dacascos was invited to something worthwhile and this after Kuritsyn... In any case, it’s great, John Wick is the best in the action genre in recent years.

Cage vs. Sakaguchi, the universe can’t stand such an epic fight.
