Director Tsui Hark believes that in his first film about Detective Dee the legendary detective received too little attention, so he decided to make a prequel. The working title of the film is “Detective Dee: The Prequel”, it will be filmed in the format 3D, and filming is set to begin this year.
As in the first film, the plot will be based on the story of a mysterious crime, with the solution of which his career began Detective Dee. Since this is a prequel, it's unlikely that Andy Lau will again star in the title role, however, the official casting has not yet begun.
“Detective Dee: The Prequel” is one of the ten films planned for 2011 by the company Huayi Brothers. Among other projects, they mention an action movie, the producer and main character of which will be Jet Li, as well as an action movie that will film Jackie Chan.
According to the Screen Daily resource, the above-mentioned action movie Jackie Chan this is the long awaited one “Chinese Zodiac” (Armor of God 3), which will be directed by Jackie Chan, and the producers - Stanley Tong and company "Emperor Motion Pictures". Who watched Detective Dee? Worthwhile movie?
The fights are weak, there are a lot of ropes, but the film as a whole is not bad, you can watch it once. Detective fans should like it.
If Sammo stars in the prequel and choreographs the fights, then everything will be in chic chocolate! Success is guaranteed (I think. :) )
