Jackie Chan's new projects

Jackie Chan, who is currently helping earthquake victims in China, will be busy promoting the action movie “The Karate Kid” next month (Sony Pictures has set a June 11 premiere). In addition, his representatives announced to distributors a list of future projects from JC Group China and Jackie & JJ Productions.

The list consists of eight feature films and two television dramas. Jackie Chan will personally star in four of them, and he will finance the remaining projects by attracting new directors and screen “stars” to work.

The first film on the list, and in my opinion the most interesting, is a martial arts film called Drunken Master 1945. The future action film will have nothing in common with either the remake or the continuation of the original 1945 “Drunken Master”. Mak Sui Fai, one of the writers and directors of Double Castling (1978), is set to helm the $2002 million project. Filming will begin around February of this year.

Other films that Jackie Chan is going to star in:

  • “Cambodia Landmine”. The comedy melodramatic action movie will be directed by Dingu Shengu (Little Big Soldier). Filming will begin in Cambodia in February 2012. The budget will be 25 million dollars.
  • “Tiger Mountain”. Drama with action elements in Mandarin. Directed by Tsui Siyu Ming. Budget – 50 million dollars. Filming is scheduled for October 2012. They promise high-quality three-dimensional special effects.
  • “Manhattan” A thrilling action film with a budget of $55 million in Mandarin and English. Jackie Chan will not only direct, but also play the lead role. Filming began in January 2013. Filming will take place both in China and the United States of America.

Several projects that Jackie Chan is going to finance:

  • “The Break-Up Artist.” Director: Steve Wu. It is a romantic melodrama in Mandarin about a woman who uses the services of an agency to break up with her boyfriend. Budget – 2 million dollars; starring Lin (the female character from Little Big Soldier). Steve Wu also directed a film of the same name, but does not regard this new project as a remake, but as a reworked story with the addition of new elements and special guest actors.
  • “Letter With No Return”. Melodrama. The director is the same Steve Wu. Budget – 2 million dollars. Filming will begin in October.
  • “Master of Magic” (Magic Master). Film starring Ge Yu. Filming is due to begin in February, but a director has not yet been selected.

In addition, the network of Jackie Chan cinemas has grown to 17 units. In general, in China the number of these cinemas should eventually reach 65.

A little about “Armor of God 3”: Stanley Tong is finishing the script for Jackie Chan’s new film, but decided to make some money by selecting actors for the new melodrama “Two Color Island”.

Wow, what a budget his films have. Hong Kong is literally growing to the level of Hollywood.

Nothing was mentioned about him in the source code. Rumors about the filming of Armor of God 3? (Chinese Zodiac) have been circulating since mid-2007, but there is still no specific information anywhere, everything is in preparation for production, and this has been the case for several years now...

Here's what it says on Jackie Chan's official website:

    Zodiac

    Chinese Zodiac (working title)
    2010 (in pre-production)

Also known as: Twelve Heads, Twelve Zodiacs

    Starring: Jackie Chan

    Director: Jackie Chan

    Distributor: Emperor Group
