Young detective Di Renjie will be played by Mark Chao

Director's new thriller/action film Tsui Harka "Di Renjie" (Di Renjie), prequel to "To Detective Dee", began filming on June 29th at Hengdian Film Studio in Zhejiang Province.

According to preliminary data, the new film will star Mark Chao, Angelababy, Lin Gengxin, Feng Shaofeng, Karina Lau and South Korean actor Kim Bum.

Some sources from the set have provided information that Feng, will probably play the role of the red-haired villain.

The official microblog of the Hengdian Film Studio reports that Karina Lau, who played the empress in the first film Wu Zetian, should arrive for filming soon.

In the new film Mark Chao will play the role of a 21-year-old Di Renjie, investigating mysterious cases of looting.
