Let's fast forward to the United States, where an MMA drama is being prepared for release under a title typical in Russian translation "Fighter Without Rules" (Notorious Nick).

A professional cameraman sits in the director's chair. Aaron Leong, notable for only one directorial project - a sports comedy "Pregnant" (2014)

The film's plot is based on a true story, which the writers have translated into the following synopsis: Nick Newell is an MMA fighter who is missing an arm. He gets a rare chance to compete for the lightweight championship. Victory is important not only for Nick personally, but also for all people with physical disabilities and injuries.

The main role was played by a 26-year-old Cody Christian (“Beautiful People”, “Assassination Nation”), and he was accompanied by the following actors: Elisabeth Röhm (TV series “Heroes”), Kevin Pollack ("Casino"), Samuel Evan Horowitz (“Crazy Bullet”) and others.

"Fighter Without Rules" will go into limited release 6 of August, and the digital release, including the territory of the Russian Federation, is scheduled for 2 September 2021 years.

Let’s finish today’s selection with a whole series, which is a wrestling drama in genre.

We are talking about a project called "Villains" (Heels), which company Lionsgate TV и Paramount Television Studios filmed for a TV channel STARZ. It’s interesting that a famous filmmaker is at the helm of the project Peter Segal (“Get Smart”, “Deadly Revenge”, “My Spy”), who not only directed most of the episodes of the series, but also played one of the roles.

The plot will revolve around two brothers, Jake and Ace Spader, who want to follow in the footsteps of their father, who was a wrestling star. In the small town where the family lives, the opportunity to become professional wrestlers is created. But here’s the problem: in the ring, two brothers cannot act as a team; moreover, one of them is obliged to play the role of a “good guy”, and the second – the role of a villain. Problems begin when the brothers transfer their images into real life.

Screen duo in "Villains" composed by actors Stephen Amell (TV series "Arrow") and Alexander Ludwig (TV series "Vikings"). Other roles include: Kelly Berglund ("Night shift"), Mary McCormack ("1408"), James Harrison (series “SWAT: Special Forces of the City of Angels”) and other actors.

The show will premiere 15 August 2021 year. The trailer looks quite interesting.

I recently watched “Born to Be a Champion” - a film from this year, it seems. Drama about a Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter. Good drama and some interesting BJJ to watch.

      Wave,

Is this where Sean Patrick Flanery plays the lead role? The trailer was good.

And we traditionally wait for your comments on posts with short films. This has become a good tradition :) And no one else comments :(

Danil Chupakhin, and yes, Sean Patrick Flanery stars. The film is a strong, high-quality, simple story of Mr.’s life, which I watched with pleasure as a film with a good story. The elements of BJJ were shown unspectacularly (but realistically), and not that much, but in general, for me, BJJ is something new, I only recently noticed it, so I watched with interest the fights in the film. It’s an interesting thing, and it seems that it has the best fighting technique on the ground. Judo, sambo and so on simply have not reached this stage, it seems to me.

Danil Chupakhin, I tried to post a comment on the short films three or four times, just before the comment about “Born of a Champion”, I commented on it to check what kind of glitch it was. But the short comments never appeared on the site. After that, I remembered that there is anti-spam, and assumed that my comments had gone to spam.

          Wave,

For some reason, one comment actually went straight to the trash can. Strange thing.
