We have already wrote about this project famous Chinese filmmaker Vona Dzina and operator Jason Kwan, for which "Chasing Dragons" became his directorial debut.

Donnie Yen plays in the film a famous figure in the criminal history of Hong Kong - Lame Ho. The film will focus on Ho's rise from an ordinary Chinese farmer to a crime boss who controlled several districts of Hong Kong.

The Chinese film star shares screen time with Donnie Yen Andy Lau (“Double Castling,” “House of Flying Daggers,” “Shaolin”), who also played a real-life man named Louis Rock. The rest of the cast includes the following actors: Philip Ng ("Zombie Fight Club") Michelle Hu ("Once Upon a Time in Shanghai") Philip Kühn ("Drug War") Mike Leader (“Pound of Flesh”) and others.

Well, judging by the trailer, we are in for an interesting and vibrant show. And yes, fears that there would be no hand-to-hand combat in the film were not justified. Watch the trailer.

Trailers for the films "Chasing Dragons", "Kung Fu Traveler 2" and "The Hidden Blade"

A trailer for a historical martial arts drama from a venerable screenwriter and director has appeared online. Xu Haofeng ("Identity of the Sword", "Judge Archer", "The Last Master") entitled "Hidden blade" (The Hidden Sword).

Мы mentioned this movie, however, more information about the plot of the film has not yet appeared. It is only known that the story will revolve around a mysterious sword, which, when it gets to the next owner, somehow affects him.

Starring in the film: Xu Qing ("Boiling point"), Jesse Lee ("Destination Port"), Shaw Brothers legend Chen Kuantai (“Executioners from Shaolin”) and other actors.

Judging by the trailer, Xu Haofeng continues the tradition of keeping fights as grounded as possible, avoiding cables and computer effects. In last year's hit director "The Last Master", this decision turned out to be controversial, although the film received positive reviews from critics from many film festivals. Let's see how this approach plays out in The Hidden Blade.

The film should be released before the end of 2017, but there is no exact premiere date yet.

As for the fights in “The Pursuit”, I’m almost sure that they will just be “beatings” and not fights, crime is crime. As for The Last Master, I don’t understand why the decision to abandon cables was controversial; the film looks realistic, unlike the same Great Master by Wong Kar Wai. In general, the release of this film is far from the last event in the world of combat cinema over the past couple of years.

After watching the video for the film "Chasing Dragons", the image of Tony Montana from "Scarface" immediately came to mind. Donny will also climb the criminal ladder, fiercely destroying his competitors. I don’t think Donnie’s performance will come anywhere close to Al Pacino’s, but it will definitely be suited to this film.

    How Donnie Yen's mustache changes...

Here is another film that I wanted to watch at one time, but missed - “Kung Fu Traveler”. I'll take a look when I have time.

Yes, and “The Last Master” is a must see. But as always, when the film was just being conceived, news about it flashed, but when it came out, there was silence.

It was there under the “Masters” tag that I saw a mention of “Insect Poison” with Rina Takeda. I'm trying to Google - and nothing. Nobody can tell me whether this thing worked out or not and is it possible to watch it somewhere with Russian or English dubbing or subs? And, although Danil writes in the comments that Rina’s role is not a combat one, etc.. Although I would still look at it depending on my mood.

      Wave,

It seemed to me that “Insect Venom” appeared on the Internet with Russian dubbing, but I may be confused. I downloaded from some Japanese torrents, but there were no English subs. I looked at the original. I once learned Japanese and I can understand something by ear, but in reality there is nothing to understand, except perhaps for the final twist, which is not interesting anyway. This is a typical bloody trash movie that again exploits the theme of teenagers killing each other. Rina wields an ax well there, but unfortunately does not show any hand-to-hand combat skills.

If you really want to, I can upload the film to some file hosting service. I saved it just in case.

Danil Chupakhin, there’s really no desire at all, but if it’s not difficult, not lazy, not too stressful, then fill it up. Sometimes, several times a year, I watch Japanese trash. Basically, if it matches: someone recommended something like “The Terrible Will of the Gods,” but my mood and time coincided, and the network is fine and there is space on the screw (and sometimes this is not everything)…
