"The Hidden Blade" by Xu Haofen, "Detective Di and the Four Kings" by Tsui Hark and the prequel to "Painted Skin"

Chinese director Xu Haofeng as they say, “shot” last year with a film about the difficult fate of a Wing Chun master "The Last Master", conquering several film festivals at once. Now we're waiting for him to remake the Shaw Brothers classic "Magic Blade", however, Haofeng has another project in the works.

We're talking about a movie called "Hidden blade" (The Hidden Sword). Not to be confused with the samurai drama of the same name Yoji Yamada 2004! Nothing is known yet about the plot of the upcoming film.

The media has a list of busy actors at its disposal: Xu Qing ("Boiling point"), Jesse Lee ("Destination Port"), as well as the Shaw Brothers legend Chen Kuantai (“Shanghai 13”, “Executioners from Shaolin”).

The film's genre is described as an "epic martial arts drama." Knowing achievement list Xu Haofeng, we are sure that we are not talking about the wuxia genre here, the director is too fond of “mundane” martial arts in the frame.

"Hidden blade" should appear earlier "Magic Blade". Apparently, that's why the creators shared the first poster of the film. However, no information regarding the release date of the film has yet been provided.

About the third film in the franchise "Detective Dee" with a subtitle "Four Kings" from the film company Huayi Brothers a little more has become known.

As we have wrote, the project will be directed Tsui Hark himself, taking a break from Stephen Chow's major project "Journey to the West 2: Demons". The master will begin filming the film next summer.

So far, nothing has been said about the plot of the third film about the adventures of Di Renjie, but the actors who have joined the project have become known. And, judging by the list, "Detective Dee and the Four Kings" will be a sequel to the second film, which tells the story of the early life of the famous Chinese literary character.

Returning to their roles: Mark Chao ("Warriors' Gate") William Fan ("Old Bodyguard") Karina Lau ("Armor of God") and Kenny Lin ("Journey to the West 2: Demons").

The film is scheduled for release in 2018. And we are still waiting for more information about the project.

Information has appeared about another long-term Chinese project, namely a prequel to the 2008 hit "Painted Skin" director Gordon Chan.

Let us remember that they started talking about a sequel and a prequel to this fantasy epic immediately after the success of the first film, but the films were in development for a long time. A sequel was released in 2012 "Painted Skin 2". In the same year there was information that there would be a prequel, but without Donnie Yen, who co-starred in the 2008 original.

However now AFS reports that the project has been taken under the wing of a film company Huayi Brothers, whose bosses have promised a 2019 release. Given this state of affairs, there is no longer any certainty that Ian will not be returned to the project along with the other original actors: Zhou Xun, Chen Kun, Vicky Zhao and the rest.

All that remains is to wait for news.

It seems like there was already a movie called "Painted Skin 2". Or did the translators call it again, as it fell on their hearts?

      He,

Yes Yes. It was about a prequel and I was confused myself. "Painted Skin 2" was released in 2012. Then they decided to shoot a prequel.
