Trailers for the films "Kung Fu League", "Legend of the Ancient Sword" and "Dynasty Warriors"

A trailer for the project we were expecting has appeared on the Internet, which in the light of fans of combat films has already been dubbed “unstoppable kung fu legends and myths.” We are talking about the upcoming film directed by Jeffrey Lau "Kung Fu League".

Lau is a renowned Chinese filmmaker who has worked in a variety of genres over a career spanning more than 30 years, including hand-to-hand action films (Mahjong Dragon, A Chinese Story) and wuxia fantasy tales (A Chinese Odyssey and Pandora's Box franchises). ). It is not surprising that Jeffrey Lau entrusted to film film about cult personalities in the field of Chinese martial arts.

In a film that previously had the title "Kung Fu Alliance" Four legendary fighters will appear at once: Wong Fei Hong - he is played by Vincent Zhao; Chen Zhen - he is played by Danny Chan; Huo Yuan Jia - he is played by Andy He; Yip Man - he is played by Dennis To.

There is still no official synopsis for the film, but after watching the trailer, we concluded that the heroes of Chinese folklore were brought to our time through the desire of a certain young man. The trailer also tells us that “Kung Fu League" will not be a serious film. On the contrary, we noticed a huge number of parody moments. It is quite possible that this opus will be something like "Rage Tokens" with Jet Li.

In addition to the main star four, the actress took part in the film Zhang Yao ("A Chinese Odyssey: Part Three"), Timmy Hungg (“God of War”) and combat film veterans Bruce Leung (“Showdown in the style of kung fu”), Leung Ka-Yan ("Ip Man 3D"), Ken Lo ("Drunk Master 2") and Xiong Xinxin ("Once Upon a Time in China").

As a reminder, Jeffrey Lau also has a film in development. "Ten Ton Killer" starring Max Zhang, Andy On and Danny Chan. And it’s a shame that there has been no news on this project for quite some time.

But, here... “Kung Fu League”... The film's premiere is scheduled for October 19 2018 year.

Another film that we already wrote about – wuxia epic from a Hollywood director – also got a trailer. Renny Harlina called "The Legend of the Ancient Sword" (Legend of the Ancient Sword).

Harlin is well known for his Hollywood action films of the 90s starring genre stars: "Die Hard 2" (1990) with Bruce Willis, "Rock Climber" (1993) with Sylvester Stallone, "Thug Island" (1995) and "Long Kiss Goodnight" (1996) with Geena Davis. However, in recent years, old Rennie has not been doing very well with successful films. Even a collaboration with Jackie Chan led to "Inveterate partners" (2016). But the director continued to work in China, where he has a number of projects planned for release. About "Sword" we already tell you told, but the time has come, as they say, to look the project in the eyes.

"The Legend of the Ancient Sword" will tell the story of ancient times and four young people whom fate brought together under strange circumstances. The company, led by the boy Yue, is forced to go in search of an ancient sword, with the help of which, according to legend, is destined to save the world from destruction by evil demons.

The film has a basis - a Chinese role-playing game Gu Jian Qi Tan. Plays the main role in the film Wang Leehom (“Child of the Moon”, “Big Soldier”), and he is accompanied by: Victoria Song ("City of Rock") Godfrey Gao ("Jade Pendant"), Karena Ng ("Ip Man 3D"), Julian Chun (“The Great Master”) and other actors.

The film will be released 1 2018 October, the. Let's see what fate awaits Renny Harlin's next Chinese film.

The trailer for the pseudo-historical epic has also arrived in the selection. "Dynasty Warriors" (Dynasty Warriors), which is a film adaptation of the famous series of computer games, the events of which take place in the legendary era of the Three Kingdoms. We also talked about this earlier mentioned.

The film's directors are Roy Chow, which may be familiar to visitors to our site as a historical action movie "The Making of a Legend" (2014) starring Eddie Pan and Sammo Hung.

There is no official synopsis yet, and it’s too early, because the film should appear only in 2019. But the acting ensemble of the future epic is known: Louis Koo (dulogy “Elections”), Karina Lau (Detective Dee trilogy), Wang Kai ("Railroad Tigers"), Eddie Chun (“Storm Z”) and others.

Well... It looks really big. All that's left to do is wait for the movie.

Chinese hand-to-hand cinema of the 21st century has long since slipped...
The fashion for wuxia films has had a negative impact on the choreography of fights:-(high jumps everywhere, flying on ropes, unrealistic movements. It’s a big deal)))
With all my dislike for wuxia films, there are quality films that are worthy of re-watching - Once Upon a Time in China 1,2,3 + Crouching Tiger Part 1 + House of Flying Daggers + Hero + Swordsmen with Donnie Yen and Kara Hui.
All other films of this genre do not deserve attention)))
New melee stars of the 80s-90s level. The era of Hong Kong has not appeared and will not appear, I think...

      Vladimir Egorov,

Hmm... But the only thing is that the stars of hand-to-hand cinema of the 80-90s appeared precisely thanks to the fashion for wuxia films of the 60-70s with their high jumps and flights on cables. It seems that the matter is not entirely in wuxia, but in the directors, who see modern fight choreography this way. And, surprisingly, these directors today are the same stars of the 80s and 90s.

        Danil Chupakhin,

Well, I don’t know... The Hong Kong hand-to-hand cinema stars of the 80s and 90s appeared thanks to the work of Bruce Lee, I believe.
In my “province”, in the post-Soviet space, in the VHS era, people were fans of Hong Kong urban action films, a la “On Line”, “Tiger Cage”, etc.
I myself watched “Crouching Tiger” in the cinema - in the episodes with flights, people laughed)))

As for the Kung Fu League, a candidate for the top three disappointments of 2019 is ready. There hasn’t been such nasty stuff on the topic of BI for a long time...

With the first film, everything is clear. Jeff Lau actively collaborated with Stephen Chow in the 1990s, and I am more confident that it will be something “absurd” like his past comedies. Apparently in China this genre is experiencing a new rise.
