Famous Sith Villain Darth Maul, aka actor/stuntman/martial artist Ray Park (Ray Park), will reprise his role as a ninja named Snake-Eyed (Snake Eyes) in the movie "G.I. Joe 2". Here's what he wrote on his Twitter:
There is good news for everyone! As you may have guessed, I'll be playing Snake Eyes again in the Jon Chu-directed sequel to GI Joe. ;)
It was also previously reported that Byung Hong Lee will return to the role Storm Shadow. Rachel Nichols last month she said that in the second part, only the old characters will remain Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow и Duke.
Director Jon Chu, in turn, publicly stated that he intended to make a sequel that would be “cooler” than the original.
Company Paramount Pictures has already set a release date for the end of 2012.

Byung-Hon Lee has the main role, so Park owes his promotion to him. In South Korea, the first Cobra grossed $54 million (second only to the US!) because Byung-Hung Lee is a superstar in Asia. He is in fifth place in the top ten best Asian actors of the decade according to the Green Planet Movie Awards 2010 (Hollywood project). It is because of him that the sequel will take place.

I don't agree. He has only 2 roles in blockbusters (Ballistic sucks, so I don’t think so), and both roles of the actor himself were never made known to the general public + there was a HUGE break between them. In addition, those low-budget films in which he played... yes, in comparison with them, films like Blood and Bone or Undisputed 2, 3 are blockbusters. =)
3 roles (if you count the first part of GI Joe) + a couple of TV series. The second Mortal Kombat doesn't count.
I also thought that ninjas would be in the second roles. And the main ones would have some pretty faces)
Somehow I find it hard to believe that they will be made the main characters, most likely, some new characters will be involved. It's a shame, I would love to see a movie with ninjas in Ch. roles.
