Russia is very gradually emerging from quarantine and self-isolation, and we are once again offering everyone interested a selection of short films.
Taky Kimura: The Heart of the Dragon
We want to start with a short documentary film, since it is directly related to the theme of the site and tells about the life of the master Taki Kimura, who was very friendly with the legendary Bruce Lee and was his senior student.
The short films feature unique footage from the martial arts institute Lee Jun Fan Gung, the origins of which were Bruce Lee and Taki Kimura.
The film that bears the title "Taki Kimura: Heart of the Dragon" (Taky Kimura: The Heart of the Dragon) created Jamil Suleiman и Aaron Jacob of Indie Genius Media. The project began to be prepared back in 2016.
Taki Kimura - an American of Japanese descent who survived the camps of World War II and, in a thirst for knowledge, met with Bruce Lee, becoming his very first student. Today, 96-year-old Kimura-san passes on his knowledge of the martial art of Jeet Kune Do to his students, as well as to his son Andy Kimura, who teaches in the Seattle area's Chinatown area.
Tiger man
Let's move on to a short, but feature film. We already wrote about the project called "Tiger Man" British director James Campbell (“Kramsatel”).
The project is interesting because the main character of the film is the legendary singer Elvis Presley, who takes revenge on mysterious bandits for the death of the legendary Bruce Lee. The creators raised funds for the 20-minute film through crowdfunding services, but did not raise the required amount.
However, they decided to turn the accumulated material into a five-minute sketch.
The main role in the short film was played by a professional wrestler Paul London. Other roles: Cornelius Jeannie Jr. (TV series "Harley and the Davidson Brothers") Eddie Lee (“Night Shooting”), Jacob Anderton (“13 graves”) and others.
The fight choreography was handled by the rising star of hand-to-hand action Jean-Paul Ly (“Prison Break”, “Annihilation”, “Night Shots”).
Protectress
Producer, screenwriter and actress Joanna Ke (TV series “Ogre”, “Guests”) released a short fantasy film back in 2017 "Defender", and, two years later, it appeared online. The film was directed by America Young ("It could be worse").
In the short film, Joanna's heroine faces off in battle against her best friend, who has a piece of a demon inside her, whose army is destroying their homeland.
Joanna Ke fights with swords with an actress Charlotte Bjornback (TV series "Datura").
The Hungtsman
Just recently a short action film appeared online "Hungter" 1993, where the stuntman made his debut David No, who would later work with such action movie stars as Jackie Chan ("Mr. Cool") Richard Norton ("At gunpoint"), Billy Zane ("Invincible"), Keanu Reeves ("The Matrix Reloaded") and Scott Adkins (“Collectors”).
Directed the film Brent Hotton, who primarily worked as an editor and artist on various projects including "First hit" (1995) "Mr. Cool" (1996) and "Who am I?" (1998) with Jackie Chan.
“Hungter” gives off the terry flavor of American action films of the 80s about the Chinese triad or Japanese ninjas. The plot is pretty much the same.
Besides David No and himself Brent Hotton, took part in the film Ola Chan (TV series "Neighbors"), Nathan Hill ("My Brother Jack") and Lawrence Ma (“7 guardians of the tomb”).
Well, we can’t help but thank you for such a rarity!
SingaFist
Combat short film "Singapore Fist", which comes to us, appropriately, from Singapore, tells the story of young martial arts practitioner Ah Feng, who seeks to learn about the mysterious "Singafista" style taught by his master. Filmmaker Xing Jia Kuan, who played the main role, describes his brainchild as a project about friendship, courage and unity.
The genre of the film is a comedy hand-to-hand action movie.
There are English subtitles so you can watch.

The film is not bad, but the recent "City Hungter" is better in terms of action.
To be honest, there is no particular principle... when there is more time, an “old man” is added, when there is less time...
Not a bad idea. But I don’t understand something, on what basis are profiles added? And legends...
