Keanu Reeves and Fisher Stevens will direct a film about Benny Urquidez

"John Wick" star Keanu Reeves, in partnership with Academy Award winner Fisher Stevens producing a documentary about life history Benny "Jet" Urquidez, the iconic athlete who introduced mixed martial arts to the world, according to Deadline.

A movie called "Jet" (the Russian version will most likely be "Jet", like Urquidez's nickname) is currently in production under the direction of Emmy Award-nominated sports documentary editor-turned-director - Jennifer Tixiera .

Nicknamed for his explosive roundhouse heel kick, Sensei Benny "Jet" Urquidez has had a profound influence on martial arts in popular culture, serving as an actor, fight coordinator and trainer to the stars. Known for his outstanding skills in kickboxing and karate, he held six world titles in five weight classes and remained undefeated throughout his 20-year kickboxing career.

In addition to his competitive accomplishments, Urquidez is known for his contributions to martial arts cinema, starring in numerous action films in the 80s and 90s. Notable film credits include The Power of Five, Road House, Dragons Forever, and Meal on Wheels. Over the years, he has also trained and worked with the likes of Jackie Chan, Muhammad Ali, Elvis Presley, Mark Wahlberg, Nicole Kidman, Kurt Russell, Patrick Swayze, Nicolas Cage, Michelle Pfeiffer, Duff McKagan and many more.

Benny is a true mentor and has had a very profound yet under-appreciated impact on both film and martial arts. I'm thrilled to help share his story with the world.
