A lot of trailers have been coming out lately, especially from the Asian film industry. Today's selection includes three films with blood, sweat and action. Everything is as you like.
The Trier Of Fact
Trier of facts is the person (or group of people) who determines the facts during a trial. Such "determiners" were played Louis Koo и Eddie Pan in the debut crime thriller Calvin Tong. These actors have already successfully collaborated in the film "Call of Heroes"(2016) Benny Chan, and now they have united again in one project. It was announced back in 2019 with Nick Chun in the leading role, but apparently it didn’t work out.
"The Trier Of Fact" follows a detective named Che (Ku) and a crime branch officer, Guo (Peng), assigned by his superiors to help him investigate the criminal activities of a ruthless drug lord. At some point, when Che believes that the investigation has come to an end, he discovers a new a twist revealing Guo's involvement.
There is no release date, but the film is expected to release in 2024.
Out Of The Shadow
At the same festival, a film for action fans from the director was presented Ricky Ko, who previously directed In Time (2021) and was also credited as an assistant director on Ghost in the Shell (2017) andProject Guttenberg".
Chu Po is a cheerful teenage girl with a keen sense of justice; her mother, Tao Kuen Ying, prefers a quiet and reserved life in the fishing town of Tai O. However, when Po learns that people need help, she decides to take action, relying on her karate skills . She soon becomes an internet heroine, but keeps it a secret from Tao until she loses her temper when she comes to the aid of Pastor Hungg and his son Man Chun, who discover that their church is a front for a drug ring. It is then that Tao reveals his own secret crime-fighting history.
This movie about homegrown vigilantes stars Kay Tse, Larin Tan, Natalie Toon, and others. There were no martial arts masters on the list of actors, so you shouldn’t expect miracles. But the creators assure that it contains a lot of fights, Cantonese humor, and family drama.
The release date has not yet been announced.
Ellyas Pical
Last on this list is a sports drama from Indonesia. This is a 6-episode film based on the life Elias Pikal - the first world boxing champion from Indonesia, three-time IBF heavyweight champion (1985–1989).
Born on a remote island with economic and physical limitations (hearing problems due to injury), Elias lost hope for his future. However, fighting skills paved the way for Elias Pikal to become a boxer. Starting from victories in amateur championships and ending with professional ones. Ultimately, Elias Pical wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming a world champion.
Film director Herwin Novianto, and played the main role Denny Sumargo. Producing the film Falcon Pictures.
The premiere will take place on Prime Video on March 21, 2024.
