The first news about this project appeared back in 2005 in Cannes. We are talking about a three-dimensional animated film called "Tri: Muay Thai Chronicle" with Tony Jaa. The plot of the future cartoon is based on the famous Thai folk tale about a young fighter who will have to find the destroyed Gates of Hell, fight various demons along the way and restore the Gates in order to save the Earth from imminent destruction.
It turns out that back in May of this year, simultaneously with announcements of “Bangkok Knockout”, “Chocolate 2”, “The Sanctuary” 2 and “Skills”, information appeared that this project would be restarted (I did not attach much importance to it, since they only briefly mentioned the name of the project, and the participation Tony Jaa I didn’t know then). But just recently, news was published on the website thaicinema.org confirming data that the Thai company “Sahamongkol” intends to resume work on "Tri: Muay Thai Chronicle". What kind of participation will it take? Tony Jaa, hard to tell. Whether it will be limited to a three-dimensional model of Tony or will involve the use of motion capture technology is too early to say. But judging by the rapid development of computer graphics and the presence of talented 3D animators in Thailand, the cartoon will be quite a spectacle, given the fact that it is made with an emphasis on combat and an adult audience. Moreover, the creators should have had blanks from the computer game “Tom Yum Goong”, and monasticism Tony Jaa they are unlikely to be prevented from completing such a long-awaited project.
To my great regret, almost all links to hand-drawn sketches from 2005 are no longer working. The plot described on the website thaicinema.org is also somewhat different, so to clarify the information, you will probably have to use the help of comrades from tonyjaa.org later. :)
