Director Gareth Evans on Twitter reported that the filming of the film "Raid 2" will begin on January 19th. The events of the initial episode will unfold two hours after the ending of the first part.
At the moment it is known that the film will star Iko Uwais (Iko Uwais) Donny Alamsyah (Donny Alamsyah) Hengki Solaiman (Hengky Solaiman) Yayan Ruhiyan (Yayan Ruhyan) Tio Pacusadevo (Tio Pakusadewo) Mathias Muchus (Mathias Muchus) Arifin Putra (Arifin Putra) Oka Antara (Oka Antara) Alex Abbad (Alex Abbad) Chechep Arif Rahman (Cecep Arif Rahman), Julie Estel (Julie Estelle) and Marsha Timothy (Marsha Timothy).
Gareth Evans: The scale of production for The Raid 2 will be significantly higher than the first part. Every time I watched a sequel, I noticed that the audience wanted something better and more memorable, so I don't want to disappoint the fans who liked The Raid. Unlike the first part, which consisted entirely of action, this film will maintain a balance between action and drama, but the film itself will be no less spectacular than The Raid, especially its second half.
Filming "Raid 2" will last about six months, then it will be the turn of festival screenings, and only then, in 2014, it will be released in wide release.

The first day of filming came to an end (16 hours). There were a couple of difficult moments, but so far everything is going according to plan.

On Facebook, in the TYG2 group (which can be accessed via imdb) - release date is May 9.
and what do you hear about Defender 2...not a trailer..nothing..will it even come out???Who knows..?
Having once seen a photo of Scott Adkis and Gareth Evans together, I hoped that he would invite him to the sequel.
I'm not worried about drama. I don’t think they will be as dramatic as Indian films.
A few more names: Epi Kusnandar, Zack Lee, Roy Marten, Feri Tri Yulisman + three Japanese fighters whose names are still unknown.
Either they accuse you of simple and hackneyed plots (not about you specifically), or they say why the hell are they making the film more complicated, give us pure action. Poor filmmakers...well, there’s no way to please the viewer =)
I think that there won’t be a lot of drama (no more than in the first film or in some Honor of the Dragon), but adding an artistic component and diversifying the action a little won’t hurt.
By the way, about Boyka... if after this he kills 20-30 people with a furious face... I don’t mind... I’ll tolerate it =)
Clear... but judge for yourself, it takes 6 months to MAKE a film, and then... it’s immediately shown at festivals... it seems to me that the author missed something =)
Nothing is said about post-processing. :) In principle, why be surprised, it took them about 3 months for pre-visas + casting alone, not to mention the preparation.

Maybe production, not filming...for just filming, 6 months is somehow a bit too much
The original says "shooting". 95% of the material will be filmed in Jakarta, and the rest in Bandung.

What kind of drama??? film a brutal action movie without any snot on it!
With the same initiative, you can make “Undisputed 4” with elements of the film “Romeo and Juliet”...
I can already imagine an episode where Boyka holds a dying girl in his arms and screams “NO-E-ET!!!.....” and tears flow like a river.... - it’s true, it’s funny!) Moreover, if this “drama” is filmed as a continuation of an uncompromising action movie, where there is no place for pity.
Ehhh.....dear directors, don’t pretend to be the next Christopher Nolan, but switch to what you really can and what you can do.
