Review of the film "The Transporter Refueled" from Ravenside

What to expect:

  • Once again, for the billionth time, the main villain turns out to be the Russian mafia.
  • Characters, including the main character, constantly grin stupidly or meaningfully.
  • The carrier talks a lot.
  • Phrase: “I come from a very poor village. People were dying from drinking and drugs.” Well, it’s a very poor village if it has money for drugs.
  • The cheerful father of the main character, performed by Ray Stevenson, is the most lively and funniest character. His only negative trait (SPOILER ALERT) is his tendency to constantly get kidnapped by someone.
  • With enchanting ease, banks, passwords and anything can be hacked by anyone, anytime and anywhere. However, this happens everywhere in most American action films.
  • There are some funny jokes and some good bits of dialogue.
  • Despite the attempt to twist the plot, it is quite naive, and the happy ending is a classic scheme, when the main character does not go to prison for murder and destruction of the city, but beautifully goes into the sunset in complete impunity. In this case, with a cheerful dad in his arms.
  • There are good camera plans, beautiful locations, architecture, nature. Not bad “European” color rendition.
  • The action scenes are very similar to scenes from the vast majority of films like "Transporter" the first, "Taken", "The Great Equalizer", "Bond" with Craig and many similar modern American or European action films of a certain niche.
  • There are really successful finds and locations in fighting game scenes (a pathetic scene with a moving car, a duel in a narrow passage between boxes with several heroes, and so on). But the main problem of the fights is that the dynamics of the fights are very slow, there are long pauses between takes and movements, the opponents are waiting for hits, the hero is waiting for the opponents to be ready, he hits slowly, not always naturally (memorized choreography is visible), he places blocks slowly, swings the ax slowly. It’s clear that it’s not exactly slow enough to ruin the battle, but it’s definitely slower than necessary. If the lead actor, Ed Skrein, had been a highly professional screen fighter, perhaps some of the shortcomings could have been minimized.
  • Young Frank Martin lacks depth. He has plenty of dash, show-off, ardor and temperament, but given his backstory shown in the film, he lacks life experience in his eyes and actions. Statham had more depth. It is depth, not to be confused with age or brutality.
  • There is no feeling that you are watching a film about a carrier (new or just young), there is a feeling of some other franchise. Therefore, the reboot did not work out; it turned out to be another, almost third-party film, but quite watchable.

Good review, to the point. I agree completely, the battles could have been more lively + in addition to the above, the opponents do not attack in turns (the battle between the boxes does not count).
It's just that the ending is too formulaic and the final battle is a real slag. No, I didn’t expect anything different, but the main bastard simply runs away, the protagonist catches up, there are no cartridges, both are on the edge of the cliff, only one remains...

Well, okay, I cut out 3 fights separately (in the parking lot, in the aisle, the scene with the car).

PS By the way, about the slow-moving car - it’s well shown, but why? It was possible, just stupidly to go straight, the gate was demolished anyway.

        Ravenside,

By the way, are you preparing a review of some movie fighter?

          JOHNSON,

I know exactly who I want to write about, but only one paragraph has been written. There is a catastrophic lack of time. I write reviews even at night. We need to get our ass together and write at least one article.

    A completely normal fighter.

    Could be worse.

I looked with one eye and missed a lot. But I expected it to be worse.

      barsug,

I also expected it to be worse. That’s why I wrote: quite watchable.
