The film was originally supposed to be directed by Gary Mac, and production had to fall entirely on the shoulders of Chinese film companies. However, according to the latest reports, none other than Chad Stahelski - director of the duology "John Wick". By the way, let us recall that second film should be released very soon - 9 February 2017 year.

Now the film with Jha, Chen and Uwais is called "Triple Threat" (Triple Threat) and, according to the news agency THR, tells the story of a Chinese martial artist who travels to Mexico to rescue his ex-wife and their son, who have been kidnapped by drug cartel men.

Judging by the synopsis, the action will unfold not only in China, but also in Mexico, which means that the film will most likely be produced jointly with the American side. Also, apparently, at least one of the trio of veteran action movie actors will play the antagonist.

Let's keep our finger on the pulse.

Rising star of action cinema Max Zhang signed to star in debutant director's thriller Jonathan Lee called The Brink (most likely, the word “shore” is meant in the title).

The thriller will follow a group of fishermen who illegally smuggle gold, as well as a squad of police officers who pursue them. The film will reportedly feature a lot of underwater filming.

In addition to Max Zhang (“Ip Man 3”), the film will feature: Shawn Yu ("Wild City") Gordon Lam (“Three poisons of the mind”), Janice Man ("Helios") Wu Yue (“From Vegas to Macau 2”), as well as a legend of action cinema Yasuaki Kurata.

Max Zhang has several intriguing projects planned for next year, including the action movie Fruit Chan "The Man with the Dragon Tattoo", spin-off "Ip Man", as well as possible threequel "Stars of Destiny", which has a working subtitle "War Needs God" (War Needs Lord).

We will wait for news about the project The Brink, the release of which is scheduled for 2017. Character posters for the upcoming thriller have already appeared online.

A film adaptation of Richard H. Dillon's novel is in preparation Hatchet Men: The Story of the Tong Wars 2012 release. They are working on the film script Michael Thomas ("The Devil's Double") and Morgan Duncan.

Signed for the leading role in the film Will Yun Lee (“The King of Fighters”, “Wolverine: The Immortal”, “Four Assassins”), who is no stranger to martial arts.

According to the resource Deadline, Ax Man chronicles conflicts between rival factions in San Francisco's Chinatown in 1890. The story will focus on a prominent gang leader, nicknamed Little Pete, who is building a real criminal empire.

Describing the upcoming film, Lee said the following:

We've found a world where the unbridled energy of The Raid and the texture of Boardwalk Empire become one.

Therefore, there is every reason to believe that the film will feature hand-to-hand combat.

It is still unknown who will direct the film, but the on-screen duet will be actor Will Yun Lee Ron Yuan ("Birth of the Dragon", TV series "Marco Polo" and "Mortal Kombat: Legacy").

The film is expected to be released at the end of 2017.

A Hollywood director driving a Triple Threat is both cool and suspicious. But now there is definitely a chance that Scott Adkins, who is very eager to participate in this movie, will be signed for a negative role. Although I can’t imagine how to properly distribute screen time to such stars as Chen, Yuwais and Jha, making them all protagonists. It seems to me that Yuvays would make an excellent leader.

      DIV,

What makes you think that Adkins is eager to do this film?

        Yaroslav,

Well, he himself wrote about it on his Twitter or Facebook. Offered himself to be the bad white guy.

This is a comment, I laughed for about three minutes, I really can’t imagine him as the boss, his face is very intelligent and kind.

    ummmm....
    1. Max Zhang ALREADY STARRED in the film “The Shore” a long time ago, the posters came out recently and now he is filming Dragon Tattoo.
    2. Regarding the Triple Threat. TRIPLE threat. The title alone makes it clear that all three are good guys. Plus "kidnapped by a drug cartel in Mexico." That is, the antagonists are OBVIOUSLY Mexicans from a drug cartel, so why should Jaa or Uwais be the antagonists? By what logic?)))

In general, it seems to me that Tiger will have the leading role, the rest will follow... In any case, I have the feeling that it will be straight cranberry, I don’t even know why, but I don’t share the hype, although I understand its reasons)

Teger, yeah, in "Tai Chi Master", for example, Yuwais didn't even get into a fight, let alone a good beautiful fight between Yuwais and Chen. But still there is hope and there is hope that even on their own they will show something interesting. Look, in “SPL2” Jackie Woo and Tony Jaa still waved a little - I liked it: kung fu against Muay Thai.

Jha, Chen and Yuwais in one film is a reason to wait for the film.
