Tony Jha, Iko Uwais, Tiger Hu Chen and Angela Baby in a joint project

Action movie fans often fantasize about bringing together the genre's biggest stars in one film. This is always a topic for conversations, debates and expectations. And this is not surprising, because we all want quality movies with our favorite stars. There is a rumor that such modern stars of combat cinema as Tony JAA, Iko Uwais и Tiger Hu Chen, caused a wave of heated discussions and expectations.

The opportunity for these three to get together was allegedly provided by the Chinese film industry, which is trying to drag Jha, Yuwais and Chen into an action thriller called Makeshift Squad. However, another star will definitely take part in the project - a beautiful Chinese actress Angela Baby (“Master's Apprentice”, “Taichi Hero”, “League of Gods”, “Independence Day 2”). She is destined for the main female role.

The unnamed source from whom this rumor originated did not provide any additional information or details, but compared the general plot with nostalgic trilogy Sylvester Stallone, calling Makeshift Squad "Asian Unstoppables".

The source also claims that the film should be directed by Gary Mac, whose portfolio includes both full-length films (“Inside or Out” with Simon Yam) and films where Mac acted as an assistant director (“The Empress and the Warriors,” “Bodyguards and Assassins” and “The Monkey King” with Donny Yen, “The Great Master” with Zhang Ziyi and others). Gary Mac is expected to begin filming Makeshift Squad in early 2017.

The most logical thing seems to be the participation of a martial artist, actor and stuntman in the project Tiger Hu Chen ("Master of Tai Chi"), since Makeshift Squad will be filmed in his homeland. Chen's upcoming projects that should reach the viewer are Chinese fantasy action "Kungfu Cyborg" and a Hollywood action movie with Keanu Reeves starring "John Wick 2", where Tiger acted as fight coordinator and Reeves' personal trainer. We can’t give up hope that an American-Chinese western with elements of hand-to-hand combat will be released "Kungfu Cowboy", where Chen's film partners should be Robin Shu и Danny Chan.

Tony Jha, Iko Uwais, Tiger Hu Chen and Angela Baby in a joint project

Tony JAA, who has previously taken part in Chinese projects (“Stars of Destiny 2”), could also, in theory, be part of “Asian Expendables.” Moreover, the Thai martial artist and actor was freed from the main projects on which he was busy almost the entire 2016. Very soon, namely January 18, 2017, we will see Tony together with Vin Diesel и Donnie Yen in a blockbuster "Xxx: World Domination". Also, for 2017, Jha has planned the release of such projects as "Particularly important goal" с Jason Statham starring, and "Man will grow", where the duet to the Thai actor will be Dolph Lundgren.

Participation in the Makeshift Squad project by an Indonesian silat master and star of such films as "Merantau" and duologies "Raid" Iko Uwaisa looks rather doubtful, since there were no prerequisites for such a thing previously. Iko is currently busy promoting his new film. "Headshot". Also, a fantastic action movie is being prepared for release in 2017 "Skyline 2" с Frank Grillo starring and Hollywood action movie "Mile 22", where Uwais will share screen time with Mark Wahlberg и Ronda Rousey. By the way, Iko has already worked with Tiger Hu Chen in the film "Tai Chi Master", where two fighters faced each other in a duel.

While Makeshift Squad is a mystery, shrouded in darkness and fertile ground for all sorts of rumors. In any case, this project is extremely interesting to us.

If we haven’t really heard anything about long-declared things like Skyline and 22 miles, then we won’t see this project anytime soon. In addition, compared to Hollywood, there are not enough Expendable Asians for a full-fledged team.

It's good that they make Asian unstoppables, there won't be one stupid shooting.
