Today, superhero cinema is on an incredible rise. One way or another, for action fans this is not the worst news, since almost every superhero is quite a fighting unit. Quite a few black superheroes appear on modern screens, both in cinema and on television: full-length "Black Panther", animated "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Netflix series "Luke Cage" based on Marvel comics, as well as a series from The CW "Black Lightning", which was recently filmed and was quite good short films.

Independent cinema, of course, does not remain on the sidelines. Director R.L. Scott (“Call Me King”) is preparing to release an independent superhero film called "Lazarus" (Lazarus).

There is no exact synopsis for the future action film, but the film will tell the story of an African-American fighter against evil with unique superpowers that he received from the Devil himself. "Lazarus" is positioned as an "ultra-violent superhero film." Let's see if Scott's film will be able to surpass the Deadpool duology in this regard.

Each part will tell the story of one of four female killers, each of whom is in one way or another connected with the mysterious Scarlett Cross, a girl who was in a terrible car accident and lost her memory.

The filmmakers note the fact that each of the actresses involved in the film has professional hand-to-hand combat skills.

Writer and director Ben Ramsey, who gave us the cult action movie "Blood and bone" (2009) starring Michael Jai White was ill for a long time and could not make a movie. However, Ramsey recently presented his new project at the Cannes Film Market. It was a web series in the cyberpunk genre called Interface. At Cannes, Ramsey showed a short film that should become the pilot for a future series.

Back in 2014, a screenwriter and stuntman became interested in the project Arnold Chon, which, however, could not find sponsors. But Chon sold his own apartment to replenish the budget of the series. But this was not enough, after which Chon and Ramsey sold their cars. Only after this the filming process started working in full force. The project received new financial injections when he joined the production team Daniel Zirilli (“Time does not wait,” “Asian Connection”).

The web series takes place in the distant future, where the main gaming console will be the human brain. People connect to the server through neural networks and play various games. But something terrible happened - mysterious hackers learned to hack the brain and kill game users. A brave detective will have to go into the virtual world to find the intruders.

The ensemble cast of the series consists of: Chris Jai Alex (TV series "Special Forces"), Tony Cavalero ("Dirt"), Michelle Lee ("Check Point"), Kinyumba Mutakabbir ("Under cover"), Pamelyn Chi ("Skyline 2"), Mary Christina Brown (“Iron Fist”) and others.

Alas, the creators do not name any dates for the online release. Let's hope that at least the pilot episode will appear in 2019.
