The creator of the documentary Into A New Dimension: The Making Of US4 needs money for post-production

About Orchard Kickstarter I mentioned it in December 2011 when I published news about the new film "Liberator" (Liberator) feat. Lou Ferigno и Don "Dragon" Wilson. At the time, the creators lacked $18,000 for post-production, but with the help of voluntary donations, Kickstarter they raised even more - $24,650.

Now it's the turn of a documentary film called "Into a New Dimension: The Making of Universal Soldier 4" (Into A New Dimension: The Making Of US4) by Doug Magnuson – $7,500 must be raised to complete post-production.

About Orchard

"Into a New Dimension: The Making of Universal Soldier 4" is a documentary that takes an expansive look into the rigors of filmmaking, following director John Hyams as he strives to bring his vision to the screen in making the feature-length film "Universal Soldier" 4".

How it started:

In the wake of the success of the previously filmed “Universal Soldier 3: Rebirth,” John Hyams was given a unique opportunity: to direct a sequel to “Rebirth,” but this time using his own original script. In the weeks that followed, he wrote the script and arrived in Los Angeles to finalize the production schedule, but things weren't that simple. The script was rejected. He had to start from scratch. I started filming “Into a New Dimension” in September 2010, literally a few days after this failure. Back then, filming was supposed to begin in November. As a result, they won't start until May.

Documentary

More than just behind-the-scenes footage, Into a New Dimension is an open examination of the creative process, taking us into the ranks of the filmmakers, and filmed with an emphasis on the multi-faceted structure of what happens behind the camera. Having completed the pre-production story, I spent my days on set documenting the filming of Unisol 4, a highly ambitious action film shot on a relatively low budget. Over the course of the better part of a year, I shot over a hundred hours of stunning footage covering the seemingly endless details of feature film production.

There was so much that went into the film that it’s hard to even imagine - stunts, car chases, special effects, fight scenes, art department, makeup, wardrobe, everyday life on the set, rehearsals, cinematography, acting - not to mention the fact that “ Unisol 4” was filmed in 3D. There are extended interviews, raw rehearsal footage and innovative cinematography elements, all held together by Hyams' herculean efforts to keep the production moving along the right path without any hiccups.

Kickstarter

The Kickstarter project is seeking funds to cover the post-production costs of this documentary, which was self-funded from start to finish.

Here's how Kickstarter works: You have two weeks to reach $7,500 in fundraising. If the full amount is not raised by March 1, 2012, the project will not be funded and we will not receive any of the voluntary contributions (we will not receive the money and will not process credit card transfers).

Funds raised will cover the costs of editing, sound mixing, color grading, graphics, licensing, production costs, DVD production, as well as costs associated with submitting the film to various film festivals, travel expenses and remunerations.

With your help - even with a donation of just one dollar! – we are getting closer to making this film a reality. Thank you for your attention!

Special mention should be made of the bonuses that the person who transferred the money will receive: these are posters, autographed discs, a special thank you in the end credits, a letter of gratitude from the director, unique advertising booklets, invitations to festival screenings, or a separate place in the opening credits as a co-producer/ producer, etc. (the total number of bonuses depends on the transfer amount).

At the time of publication, 13 people had donated money. The total was $965 of the $7,500. There are only 3 days left until the end of the term.

I wonder what will happen to the money that was transferred.

They will not be listed. Transactions are carried out ONLY after a positive result.

I couldn’t even find it through a search; I thought it had been removed from the site.

Finds it through a search, you need to type INTO A NEW DIMENSION. Verdict: Funding Unsuccessful :(

    Didn't raise... 23 people and only $1,826.

“In general, it’s some kind of nonsense that they organized money collections, that you can’t take or borrow money from Scott or any other star from the film.”
This is not just nonsense, it causes pity and discontent. Well, what kind of garbage is it to stand with your arm outstretched during the post-production period of SUCH a film. It was necessary to prepare properly, and not decide the issue offhand. A SHAME in general!

It’s not the one who filmed it that should be ashamed, but the one who didn’t support this endeavor financially. Additional high-quality PR for a film will never hurt. Sooner or later we will see this documentary, of course, it’s just that the release date may shift indefinitely.

Should have done this a few months ago.

Ilya, 2 weeks ago minus 50 hours.

Oh, I forgot to clarify: if you transfer money, you will receive bonuses only in October. :)

But I didn’t understand when the post was created on Kickstarter (I couldn’t find where to look for the date). Otherwise, it turns out that it’s only a couple of weeks, as I understand, of course they won’t have time to collect the required amount.

The creators of “Unisol 4” did not allocate money to the author; they already had a small budget. They 100% have their own making-of-offices, but not so long and versatile.

But this documentary, I’m afraid, will never raise any money - 18 people and $1,475, and 50 hours left.

It’s strange that the creation of the making-off did not fit into the overall budget of the film...
