Short films Acéré, Dancer, Dying is Easy, Who's the Boss? and Cowboy BeBop

Jean-Paul Ly, despite his youth, is already very famous among fans of action cinema for his roles in such action films as "Jail break" (2017) "Night Shooting" (2018) and "I Am Vengeance 2" (2020). In addition, Lee, being a martial arts practitioner, often participates as a stuntman in famous Hollywood projects, and also choreographs fights in some independent and not so independent projects.

Short films Acéré, Dancer, Dying is Easy, Who's the Boss? and Cowboy BeBop

The new film starring Jean-Paul is a short, bloody thriller from the director Ross Peacock (“Augmented Reality”). The film is called Acéré (“Sharpening”?).

The plot follows a man on the run who is pursued by a mysterious killer who looks more like a real cyborg. And no matter how the main character runs from him, he will still have to engage in a bloody battle for his life.

Jean-Paul Ly will face his old friend in battle Lauren Plancel ("Prison Break", "Annihilation").

Dancer

The next film from an Australian short film director Janos Balazs bears the name "Dancer" and the project was filmed back in 2017, after which it spent a long but active time at various film festivals.

In general, Balazs has planned a full-fledged feature film (he has experience with action films "Ninja: Step into the Unknown" 2014), but the budget, as usual, was not enough. This is how the 50-minute film came about.

It's about a hitman who is forced to protect an exotic dancer, who is being followed on his heels by representatives of the criminal world.

The main role in the film was played by a stuntman and actor James Conrado (“Promised”).

Batman: Dying is Easy

The next film was shot literally for a year and a half by the guys from the creative association bat in the sun, known for their web series Super Power Beat.

Since the guys are big fans of comic books, their eyes fell on the DC comic book series about the super hero Batman and his sworn enemy the Joker, calling their film "Dying is easy". At the director's helm are again Aaron Schoenke и Sean Schoenke.

As the synopsis states, “Batman and the Joker have always had a complicated psychological relationship. It's these dark concepts that make the characters so interesting."

This truly interesting short film stars Kevin Porter (series “The X-Files”, “Ninja vs. the Valiant Universe”, “Complete Knockdown”), Aaron Schoenke (TV series “Deadly Warrior”) and Michael Madsen (“Pulp Fiction”, “Kill Bill”).

Beautiful ladies appeared in small roles Amy Johnston ("Lady Bloody Fight") and Tatiana Dekhtyar ("The Mindy Project")

In general, we demand that these talented guys be given money for a full film, and we leave you with the film itself.

Who's the Boss?

Let's move on to the sketches, of which there are plenty. The first of them belongs to a Portuguese stuntman and martial arts practitioner Bruno Salguiero (aka Bruce Willow), who, as part of his online show Bruce Willow Podcast communicates with famous athletes and combat movie stars.

The video called "Who's in charge here?" will push Bruno off Thiago Graza in a comedy fight that culminates an argument between two friends about who is the coolest 80s action star.

Cowboy BeBop Fan Film

We have already told about the project of a talented screen fighter Chris Howard (“Order of the Dragon”, “Hooligans 3”) called Rogue Origin Film, in which British stuntmen film sketches about the confrontation between famous characters from films, comics and cartoons.

This time the creative team turned their attention to the wonderful Japanese anime series "Cowboy Bebop". Howard himself is not on either side of the camera in the new film, but the director and fight choreography Josh Maybee to the same music, he pitted the main character of the series, Spike Spiegel, against his old friend from the syndicate, Tannu Strite, in a fight.

The role of Spike was played by a stuntman Justin Wang Cho, which he opposed Alfred Sin. Played by Jack Black Christopher Gordon.

Liu Kang vs. Reptile

The guys from the creative association decided to show off their own comedy sketch Brothers in Crime, namely brothers Chris and James Atkins.

In their video, they pitted famous characters from the game series Liu Kang and Reptile in a mortal battle. At the same time, everything was specially filmed in the most trashy style, which cannot help but make the viewer smile.

They wave their arms and legs and openly make fun of Jackie Chan и James Jennings.

My Mother, the Action Star

We will end, suddenly, with a short documentary, or to be more precise, with the personal story of an Australian stunt girl Maria Tran, which often appears on our website with funny sketches, and sometimes with a real full-length movie, like "Dragon Fist" (2014)

This time, Maria, in a five-minute video, tells the story of her own mother, who was a Vietnamese refugee who went to Australia at her own risk. The woman's difficult story is accompanied by beautiful kata from Tran herself.

Jean-Paul is as unkillable as his opponent. By the way, he plays off pain and tension well, you believe him.

      VKontakteUser34,

Overall, a good movie fighter. It's a shame the genre is in decline. He could represent him in the future.

"Acéré" - about two people and one knife. The first drawback is that the action is in a dark place, everything is hard to see. Well, the fight is a little too sweeping. You can watch it, but not necessarily.

"Dancer" - “John Wick” is for the poor. For the poor at all. If you don’t feel sorry for almost an hour of time...

"Batman: Dying is Easy"- with a very meager budget they tried to pretend to be rich. They added special effects, costumes and makeup, the actors tried to act (too pretentious and exaggerated, but one cannot help but admit that it suits the film). This has nothing to do with combat cinema, but it’s just worth watching ( if you like the topic) It is advisable to speak English by ear.

"Who's the Boss?" - a funny short fight, worth watching.

"Cowboy BeBop"- I don’t even know how to describe it. A fan film based on anime. Not the worst example. Although the gun-kata is never “Equilibrium”. In general, you can watch it.

"Liu Kang vs. Reptile" - "Mortal Kombat" of a healthy person, and not all this. Give me more of this crap, and I'll take this one to the collection of funny combat short films.

Sorry, I didn’t want to watch the documentary.
