Remake of the film "Cannonball Race"

In our time of belated sequels and endless remakes, another reboot of the franchise will not surprise anyone. We are not surprised by the film company's decision Warner Bros. revive the cult comedy action "Race "Cannonball"».

Having bought the rights to the film adaptation, the film company immediately appointed a screenwriter and director for the future project. These two positions will be combined Ethan Coen, who managed to distinguish himself with scripts for such films as “Idiocracies","Soldiers of failure" and "Men in Black 3" The producers of the film were Andre Morgan (the original "Race") and showrunner of the TV series "Vikings" Alan Gasmer.

According to the news agency Deadline, studio bosses will approach the remake very carefully, counting on a full-fledged restart of the franchise. The film was called "Cannonball"(Cannonball). Despite the simplified title, the remake will be based on the plot and characters of the very first film in the series from 1981.

The original picture brought together stars of the first magnitude of those years: Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, House de Louise and others. In addition, one of the first appearances took place in "Race" Jackie Chan in American cinema. He played a mechanic for the Japanese team. The film about racing without rules became so popular that it spawned two more sequels. The last film in the series dates back to 1984.

Today, there are quite a few action heroes from the young cohort of actors who can bring classic characters to life on screen. Even the clichéd role of an Asian who knows martial arts can be offered today Tony Jaa, Donnie Yen or Tom Wu.

While the creators of the restart "Cannonball“They didn’t approve the date or even the year of release of the film.

Interestingly, a film has already been planned for 2017, which can rightfully be considered the spiritual successor to “Cannon Race”. It's about "Rally Car" by Harold Zwart with Keanu Reeves starring. The film is in pre-production and will be shot in China with local stars.

Which modern actor would you like to see in the reboot of “Race”?

Well... although there are already a lot of remakes, this film has negligible value for cinema, frankly speaking)) Well, it received a couple of Malin nominations at one time... But if the original was bad and now can only grab you with nostalgia for that era of cinema , then I don’t even know what the restart will be like)) But God bless him.

ps Donnie Yen would rather run out of space in his wardrobe for his many jackets than accept the role of a “cliché Asian in Hollywood.” That's what he can't stand)))
Jackie was still very young then, and at that time that was the only way they filmed Asians, so he could be forgiven.
