Summing up the results of action cinema 2017: nominations

We are ready to present you with nominations that will help us sum up the results of the 2017 action cinema on our website fight-films.info.

We invite you to remember what the essence is: below we publish a list of nominations for which the results of the year will be summed up. For each nomination, you need to propose an option or several options, which will subsequently be included in the voting to determine the best. Carefully read the list of nominations - explanations and examples are attached to them.

So “Master Yoda” came down from the mountains in a web from his lackey.

    1. Best martial arts film of 2017 - Paradox.
    2. Blockbuster 2017 – LOGAN (because it’s a strong film. Although it wasn’t shot so well in places, and God bless it!)
    3. Best On-Screen Fight – I don’t remember anything worthy of saying - Wow!!!... I don’t remember at all.
    4. The best action movie is probably PARADOX.
    5. Best action movie actor - Jackie Chan (because Jackie Chan is a hard worker in every sense and that says it all)
    6. The best actress in action cinema - unfortunately, I didn’t see this one. Or maybe fortunately.
    7. Disappointment of the year – ASSASSIN’S CREDO (I haven’t fallen asleep so sweetly in a movie theater for a long time. And when I woke up, I literally didn’t give a damn about all the action that was happening)
    8. Asian action movie 2017 – PARADOX. (No matter what anyone says, this film does not let go from beginning to end, keeping you in incredible suspense. Moreover, causing wonderful aesthetic pleasure in the visuals)
    9. Fantasy 2017 or historical - I don’t remember a worthwhile movie.
    10. Sports drama 2017 – FIGHT with Aamir Khan and VILLAGE. The first for the Indian flavor of life examples, and the second for the challenge to young filmmakers. Strongly! And both.
    11. Independent film with BI - Hmm... LOVE BY REFERENCE (in my opinion, we coped with the task watchably on our own, and even did an excellent fight scene)
    12. Short film with BI – BLINDSIDED with “blind” Eric Jacobus. (Eric, well, he’s Eric in Africa. No comments)
    13. Action series with and without BI - IN THE DESERT OF DEATH 2
    14. Return of the year - I don’t remember anyone significant to my memory returning. Alas…
    15. Anticipated film 2018 – CHASING DRAGONS and RAMBO with Tiger Shroff. And of course +20, -35 DEGREES PRECIPITATION 100%. I hope I’ll finally release it in the winter of 2018!

Unfortunately, I watched "The Foreigner" in the cinema. I suspect that Tunes has the same version. To be honest, I wouldn’t say that the “action” really blows the mind. It plays more into the perception that this is Jackie Chan, who even acts as a comedian in serious films. And in “The Foreigner” he breaks bones and necks, like in some “Man from Nowhere”.

      Dmitriy,

Thank you for writing. The simple fact is that in the web-rip version, the one-on-one fight in the forest with the Irish ranger is 2 times longer, more acrobatic and ends logically (with a suffocation, and not a knot in the throat). For the movie, apparently, the version was cut down, it’s just a shame that due to fights

Good afternoon friends. who knows, tell me - in the first version of the web rip translated by Kolobkov Inostrantsa and in the last one, which has already been released in Tunes, the action is different (in the web rip with Korean titles the action is cooler and filmed differently). Are these different ratings or what is the reason?

Glory to Morihei and Funakoshi, I finally figured out how to enter the temple.

Best film with BI - Boyka
    Blockbuster - Logan
Screen duel - Chinese seller. Tyson vs Seagal. Just for one fact. Spoiler. Tyson and Van Damych crossed their limbs for a couple of seconds.
Best Action - John Wick 2
Best Actor - Evil Jackie Chan
Best Actress - Our nyasha Charlize
Disappointment of the year - wagon and trolley. Here Nevsky made his mark, another horror show, but I expected it from him. But “Kickboxer: Retaliation” was frankly upsetting, like Kevin Spacey.
Asian Action - Raid: Bullet in the Head
    Historical - haven't seen it
    Sports drama - real Rocky
Independent film - . did not see
Short film - Gong Shou Dao. This is where the billionaire conquers his frustrations and movie buffs.
    Action series - The Punisher
Comeback of the year - Banderos for perseverance. Although the films are not a fountain.
    Expected film 2018 - Ip Man-4

    Independent Martial Arts Film 2017:

The fight in block 99 with Vince Vaughn is a must watch, I would also like to mention Vince Vaughn as a comeback along with Jackie Chan. Vince Vaughn is convincingly good in action scenes, and as a dramatic actor too.

    Okay, take five

    Martial arts movie 2017
“Undisputed 4” – for good acrobatic fights and readability of each fight.
    Blockbuster 2017
“Thor Ragnarok” – for beautiful special effects action and the final battle to the Immigrant song by Led Zeppelin.
    Best Screen Fight 2017
Ben Barnes vs. Jon Berntral in the final episode (Punisher 2017 series) - for bloodiness, cruelty, drama, and the final scream of Ben Barnes - epic pain.
    Best action movie 2017
"John Wick 2" - for endless shooting, pencil and a pleasant night, glamorous atmosphere.
    Best Action Film Actor 2017
Scott Adkins - for Boyka, as well as Victor in "The Mercenary". For the fact that it doesn’t blow away and gets better over time, even if it doesn’t go as quickly as you would like.
    Best Action Film Actress 2017
Ruby Rose “John Wick 2” - I can’t pick out much from the girls, because I haven’t watched anything, but I saw her in John Wick, I remember her hairstyle.
    Disappointment of the year
Savage dog - the direction is disappointing and the script is so-so, you can’t sympathize with the characters, and the action without emotions doesn’t evoke any emotions.
    Action series 2017
“The Punisher” – for brutal action, interesting characters, good script.
    Comeback of the Year
    Jackie Chan - for Foreigner.
2018's most anticipated film of the year
    "Accident man"

    Why didn't my comment appear?

    Author's gravatar

    What I remembered.

    MAIN NOMINATIONS:
    Martial arts movie 2017
“Atomic Blonde” - for high-quality, carefully choreographed fights in different locations, filmed with a shaky camera, for a cool spy intrigue against the backdrop of stylish Berlin in the eighties and excellent acting.

    Blockbuster 2017
“Logan” – for the impeccable combination of action, interesting story and acting.

    Best Screen Fight 2017
Charlize Theron's fight against the bad guys on the stairs and then in the apartment in the film “Atomic Blonde” - for the realistic presentation of unsportsmanlike hand-to-hand combat, excellent stunt work and long, high-quality shooting “as if” in one continuous shot.

    Best action movie 2017
"Atomic Blonde" - for the same reasons (see above).
“The Foreigner” - for the darkest Jackie Chan in excellent form, a full-fledged drama, an interesting story and high-quality action.
“Wild Dog” – for quality fights and authentic Indochina of the sixties.
"Boyka: Undisputed" - for having Scott Adkins' lead character back and back in a great way.

    Best Action Film Actor 2017
Scott Adkins - for continuing to actively work in films, not only delighting with the main roles, but also not disdaining to star in minor ones.

    Best Action Film Actress 2017
Charlize Theron for the film “Atomic Blonde” - for excellent preparation and, as a result, high-quality action performed by a “non-combat” dramatic actress.

    Disappointment of the year
“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” is a boring story and a failure in the melee department due to the clip editing.
“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” - with such inventive action and a cool cast of actors, it was necessary to try to make such a boring and stupid movie.
“Fast and Furious 8” – the fantasy racing Santa Barbara with babies, endless conversations about family and the inevitable “funny” blacks has practically exhausted itself.

    SECONDARY NOMINATIONS:
    Asian Action 2017
“The Villainess” – for its filigree combination of high drama and full-fledged “meaty” action, as well as for the martial arts proficient Kim Ok Bin in the leading role.

Historical, fantasy or wuxia film 2017
“Assassin's Creed” – for the medieval part of the film with appropriate action, stunts and dashing stunt work.

    Martial Arts Short Film 2017
“Bad Choice” – for good action and a bright ending.
“The Witcher: Bridge of Demons” – for interesting fencing and external authenticity to the world of the Witcher.

    Action series 2017
"Iron Fist" - for its pleasant recreation of the atmosphere of old Hong Kong action films.
“The Punisher” – for its well-developed story and uncompromising action.
“The Defenders” – for a successful quartet of Marvel heroes and inventive action.

    Comeback of the Year
Antonio Banderas - for a couple of strong roles in the recent "Vow of Silence" and "The Security Guard", he has not been in action films for a long time in leading roles.

2018's most anticipated film of the year
    "Triple Threat"
    "Death Wish"

    Author's gravatar

    MAIN NOMINATIONS:
    Martial Arts Movie 2017:

    – "Uncontested 4"
The only martial arts movie that didn't disappoint this year.

    Blockbuster 2017:
    – "Kingsman: The Golden Circle"
The sequel came out weaker than the first part. But the action scenes are still just as beautiful and colorful.

    Best Screen Fight of 2017:
    – Jackie Chan VS Rory Fleck-Byrne (“The Foreigner”)
Jackie still can. And the fight itself turned out to be very dynamic and exciting.

    Best action movie 2017:
    – "John Wick 2"
A wonderful sequel with its enchanting world and delightfully choreographed shootouts.

    Best Action Film Actor 2017:
    – Scott Adkins
As always, he was inimitable in the role of Boyka. I also pleased with a small role in the film “The Mercenary”.

    Best Action Film Actress 2017:
    – Ruby Rose
I really liked it in the films Xxx: World Domination and John Wick 2. And the weapon looks simply amazing!

    Disappointment of the year:
    – "SPL Stars of Destiny 3: Paradox"
As for the dramatic component, the new part of SPL is at the proper level. That action is kind of a shame. The fights are either terribly montage because Louis Koo is never a fighter, or they are implausibly rope-based. And with Tony Jaa flying on a satellite dish, I laughed out loud. And the existing movie fighters were used to a minimum and in a very strange way. It would be better not to give the movie an SPL tag

    SECONDARY NOMINATIONS
    Asian Action 2017:

    – “High & Low: The Movie”
I really like films like this, and the fights in the films are excellent. I really want to watch the two sequels, but Japanese films, unfortunately, take too long to reach us.

Historical, fantasy or wuxia film 2017:
    – “Fist and Faith”
A sort of "Crows", only in Chinese, and the scene takes place in Manchukuo. As a result, Chinese schoolchildren fight exclusively with Japanese schoolchildren, and the initially funny film in the end reveals a bloody drama and guerrilla warfare with foreign invaders.

    Sports drama 2017:
    – "Dangal"
    Great Indian cinema.

    Independent Martial Arts Film 2017:
    no

    Martial Arts Short Film 2017:
    - “Do No Harm”, dir.: Roseann Liang, 2017)
A delightful New Zealand short film. When bandits break into the hospital to finish off their goal, a female surgeon comes to the patient’s defense. With fatal results for the first. And the ending is absolutely gorgeous.

    Action series 2017:
    - "Arrow"
The action, of course, varies from episode to episode. But overall it’s pretty solid and inventive. And the series itself has begun to gain momentum again!

    Comeback of the Year:
    – Daniel O'Neill
I missed him so much that I was very glad to see him at least in the short film "Fixer".

The most anticipated film of 2017:
    - "Triple Threat"
The teaser is quite dynamic and the cast is absolutely amazing.

Dima Glushkov, where to watch “Do Not Harm”? Google was generous only for a one-minute excerpt, after which you want to watch the short film in its entirety.

        Author's gravatar

Wave, uh, I didn’t find it either. The short film is not visible on the Internet yet.
I watched it in a cinema where the short film was included in the MANHATTAN SHORT-2017 program

I can’t help many people, because, as a rule, I look three years late and everything in a row. So don't judge too harshly.
Martial arts movie - "Kung Fu Yoga"
Blockbuster - "Ghost in the Shell"
Best On-Screen Fight: Jackie Chan vs. terrorists in a hotel room at the end of The Foreigner
Best Action - "The Magnificent Seven" with Denzel Washington
Best Action Movie Actor - Scott Adkins
Asian action movie - Shock Wave with Andy Lau
Fantasy - "The Witch with White Hair in the Moon Kingdom" - a dark, but beautiful and touching tale of love
Sports drama - "Sultan" with Salman Khan

    That's all I could

      Author's gravatar

      Dmitriy,

Thanks for this too, although “Seven”, “The Witch” and “Sultan” are not suitable due to the age of release.

I won’t be able to be noted in all the nominations, but I’ll write anyway.

Martial Arts Movie 2017 - Explosive blonde. For the unexpected role of Lisa Theronova, for the magnificent Bernhardt, for several bright fights and cheerful music.

Blockbuster 2017 - Logan. For good “meat” action, for the adult rating of fights and the unfading Hugh Jackman, who got used to the image of Wolverine.

Best Screen Fight 2017 - Charlize Theron vs Daniel Bernhardt in explosive blonde. I liked it more than others, he’s kind of animalistic, furious or something.

Best action movie 2017 - I'm not sure if I can put it here too explosive blonde, but if so, then she. Because I liked it more than the others and was hooked. If not, I'll note it Foreigner with Jackie Chan.

Best Action Film Actor 2017 - Jackie Chan for Foreigner.

Best Action Film Actress 2017 - Charlize Theron.

Disappointment of the year - King Arthur sword. The film did not show anything outstanding; the action was also not pleasing. Everything is kind of grey. Well, or I've eaten.

    Asian Action 2017 - Villainess.

Comeback of the Year - Daniel Bernhardt.

The most anticipated film of 2018 - Battle angel Rodriguez
The only short film I watched was Major Thunder. Let it be on the list too)

    Author's gravatar

I thought and thought, and decided that for me the nominee for “disappointment of the year” is the third “Stars of Destiny”. Because I didn’t have any special hopes for either Jackie Chan, Van Damme, or XXX3.
Also, maybe “Re:Born”, for the fact that it was never released. Well, or this short film, in which a Chinese billionaire collected a lot of legendary movie fighters and all of them from***

Best Action Actress: Charlize Theron. I won’t say that I’m so delighted with it, but I did a good job, and I haven’t watched any more action films with women in leading roles this year.

Expected: Triple Threat. But honestly, I don't know what else to expect. So, I’m looking forward a little, for example, to Lungren’s new zombie movie and Skyline 2, but not for the sake of the battles, because I’m sure there won’t be anything like that there. It’s just that the zombie character will probably be good, but I like Lungren as an actor. I’m waiting for Skyline for the sake of Yuvays, for the sake of the fights, but I understand that there won’t be any special fights there.
    And so on.

Ps Who is on the logo at the top in the middle?

      Author's gravatar

      Wave,

Tiger Shroff from his film this year "Munna Michael", which, by the way, is circulating online with Russian subtitles.

And "Skyline 2" is also online. I just went to the cinemas recently.

        Author's gravatar

I watched “War of the Wolves 2” (by the way, I’m not sure that this is a correct translation). I didn’t expect anything from her, but when I looked at her I was blown away. Blood sausage at the heart of the African revolution. Of course, there is not much hand-to-hand action and there is nothing outstanding, no “Fight against the Legendary Killer”, but in general there is a lot of action, and it is cool, definitely cooler than the first part! So the film deserves a nomination, which one should it be squeezed into: best action film, best Asian film, blockbuster?

I note that again there are difficulties with what to put in which category. For example, how does “best action film” differ from “best martial arts film” and why is it so honorable that in the example of “Finish Them All” it is called a martial arts film? I would also understand if “Birth of the Dragon” was classified as a martial arts film. But he also speaks Asian.
Well, I hope that the voting scheme itself will be more thoughtful than last year. In most cases, it is very inconvenient to cast one vote for each nomination. When there are two or three films rubbing shoulders and you want to award both.

Ps And I completely agree with the previous commentators. “Atomic Blonde”, “Undisputed 4”, “John Wick 2”, “Birth of the Dragon”, “Major Thunder”, “Bullet in the Head”, “The Villainess” (generally cool-cool-cool!), Banderas or Bernhard as a comeback year, "Logan", and so on. All these films deserve it, and when they are ranked in categories, I will sit and think for whom to vote.

Pps I watched “Munna Michael” and appreciated... Dancing. As an action movie, it's nothing (although Tiger Shroff is in great shape), but the dancing there will rock you.

Yes, it’s the owner’s business - where. A film can be nominated in several categories, not necessarily in just one.

Well... If you haven't noticed, the examples are indicated with a certain amount of sarcasm. “Finish them all” is absolutely true :)

We hope that the functionality of the site engine will allow this.

Best martial arts movie of 2017—Bruce Lee's Birth of the Dragon is an okay movie with a clear martial arts philosophy and satisfying action.
Blockbuster 2017 - Spider-Man Homecoming - I was captivated by the fact that Tom Holland is no stranger to acrobatics, and trained well for filming.
Screen fight 2017 - Scott Adkins vs Brahim Acchabake (Undisputed 4) - as if Boyka was fighting with himself)))
Best Action Movie of 2017 - John Wick 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed action film, and that says it all.
Best Actor 2017 - Jackie Chan (The Foreigner)
Best Actress 2017 - Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde) - respect to her for her participation in hand-to-hand scenes.
Disappointment of the year 2017 - Finish them all - cheap craft without a soul, hacky fights, Van Damme with a dull face...
Asian Action 2017 - Raid: Bullet in the Head - a one-off, but honestly filmed brutal action film without bells and whistles! And a minimum of cables, for what it’s worth!
    Historic 2017 - Dunkirk
    Sports drama 2017 - didn’t watch anything
    Independent film 2017 - haven't watched anything
    Short film 2017 - didn’t watch anything
2017 Comeback of the Year - Daniel Bernhard (Finish 'Em All, Atomic Blonde) - Alex Cardo from Bloodsport 234 still in form! Credit to him!
Anticipated film 2018 - Triple Threat - Iko Uwais, Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, etc.

I would like to note that in general there are many films for the Disappointment of the Year 2017 nomination:
xXx 2 is a bullshit movie with Vin Diesel with no action, it was just a pity to look at Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa, looking at their scripted roles...
Fast and Furious 8 is again an expensive nonsense about the same thing. I went to the cinema just to look at The Rock and Statham, who were not allowed to turn around)))
Power Rangers - there is practically no action in the film (((Just conversations and the training part... Boring comrades...
Railway Tigers - patriotic Chinese bullshit with Jackie Chan.
Kungfu Yoga is a bad movie with Jackie Chan, I didn’t like it!

I hope that in 2018, Kickboxer 2, Black Water, the Jean Claude Van Johnson series, Cambodian Prison Break, War of the Wolves 2 and Chinese Seller, Japanese High kick angels, etc. will reach Russian viewers in due time without delay.
All the best to the creators of the survey!

Last year I took part in the voting with pleasure, and now it looks like I’ll be the first. So,

Screen duel - Boyka 4 final
Best Action - John Wick 2
Best Actor - Apparently Jackie Chan (although generally not a fan)
Best Actress - not interesting (sorry)
Disappointment of the Year - Defenders (Russia)
Asian action movie - there is a bullet in the head :)
    Historical _ God of War
Sports drama - Stronger than the whole world. Jose Aldo
    Independent film - yes, Kamikaze
    Short film - not interesting
    Action series - The Punisher
Comeback of the year - remembered Banderas, Vow of Silence and Security Guard - isn't that enough? :)
Anticipated film 2018 - The Man with the Dragon Tattoo (where "Spider" Silva is)
