The first trailer for the action movie Dante Lama Unbeatable (MMA)

[HONG KONG TRAILER ADDED]

After serving time in prison for taking part in illegal boxing fights, 48-year-old Fai finds himself neck-deep in debt with no prospects for the future. Hiding from creditors, Fai flees to Macau and seeks help from his old friend Shui. At one time, Fi was a contender for the boxing championship title, but now he is a broken man who can only work as a janitor at the gym and as an assistant instructor for weight loss classes. Being broke, Fi agreed to share housing with the recovering mentally ill Gwen and her ten-year-old daughter Dan. Despite the fact that cohabitation began with hostility, the relationship gradually develops into something like a family, and Fi becomes their patron.

The hot-tempered youth Qi was once the son of a rich man from mainland China. However, the family business fell apart, after which his father fell into depression and drowned it out with alcohol. This forced Qi to earn extra money to survive on the Macau black market. To encourage his father to get back on his feet, Qi signs up for an open MMA tournament and begins training at the gym where Fai works.

The tandem's hard work, with Fai as a coach and Qi as a fighter, pays off, and the young man wins the tournament three times in a row. Thanks to his son's victories, the father finds the strength to recover. However, Qi's fourth opponent is Li Yuan-Heng, a fighter known for his brutality in the ring.

What Fai feared happens - Qi is seriously injured at the hands of Heng and ends up in the hospital in critical condition. Amazed by Qi's tenacity and unwillingness to give up even in the face of certain defeat, Fai rediscovers his fighting spirit and challenges Heng to a formal duel. What is the limit of the capabilities of the 48-year-old body of Fai with the fighting spirit awakened in him?

I think that’s why Nick Chung was cast in the role, and not just another singer. He's a strong actor.

Yes, he is a very strong actor, one of my favorites.
It’s different everywhere and plays great everywhere.

I'm surprised by the positive comments, because... the plot is absolutely not impressive... but on the contrary disappointing, I expected: unsuccessful
tear-squeezer with the typical Asian overplay with (at best) normal battles... and here it seems like something better is planned... I’m surprised.

    A very, very worthy movie.
The girl (Crystal Lee, as I understand it) lit up like an adult.
I played my entire part in the film, 5 points out of 5 possible. :)
And the film also has a gorgeous soundtrack, and in the scene of Nick Chung’s training a la Rocky, there is such a gorgeous song that seems to not be suitable for this scene, but nevertheless fits perfectly.

But as a drama, the film is very, very good!

I saw this film in Hong Kong at the cinema.
    A great sports drama.
The fights are staged beautifully and spectacularly, but everything is spoiled by ragged editing.

    I watched "Resistance" - sadness.

In the second trailer, the theme of battles is better revealed, it will clearly be something to watch, it would most likely have already appeared on the screens

Added a Hong Kong trailer to the news.

I watched all these films on fast forward, because the garbage is rare... Except... “Red Belt” is a masterpiece, an excellent movie. More of a drama than a sports action movie. But definitely everyone should watch it.

Still, “Resistance” looks more or less (it’s just somehow realistic) And if you watched “Scorpio”, I don’t understand why you didn’t like it so much

A review has appeared. I won’t translate because there are only a few words about the battles, they say, good editing and staging, there is a climax. In general, it’s just right for fans of such dramas.

On the topic of MMA “Never Give Up” 2009 with Hector Echavaria (Echavaria himself, of course, is a show-off, but there is also BG Penn, Anderson Silva, etc.); Resistance (Michael Bisping), with Tiny Sheena "Circle of Pain" and "Locked Down"; with Ekhavaria, again, “Deadly Warrior” and “Unsurpassed” (there are also real fighters there, Georges St. Pierre, for example) I liked “Scorpio” 2007 (there is Le Banner), I recommend the MMA drama “Red Belt”

At the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival, Nick Chun was awarded the title of best actor for the film Unbeatable, and 10-year-old Crystal Lee was awarded the title of best actress.

“Never Give Up” - two parts
    "Warrior"
    "The Philly Guy"
and for relaxation “Fat Man in the Ring”.
I liked all the films in their own way and are pretty good representatives of their genres, but this trailer looks simply amazing. Many times better than the low-quality direct-to-DVD trash that is now rushing out of this region.

We wait. As an ardent fan of MMA in general and films in particular, I’ll be looking forward to it.
By the way, who knows good films on this topic? So far the list is scant:
"Never Give Up" - two parts
    "Warrior"
    "The Philly Kid"
and for relaxation "Fat Man in the Ring".
    What else do you know?

Thank you, I wish it was online soon

Apparently it’s a high-quality MMA drama, we’ll be waiting for the premiere

Nick Chung is an interesting actor. I first saw him in the movie Nightfall.
