Undeniable 4: in prison or free?

Scott Adkins в Twitter'e asked his fans:

Do you want to see Boyka in prison again? Or beyond them - as a new chapter in his life? Folks, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this matter.

What do you think?

    Oh how. Johnny Cage Style

Yes, yes, that’s right)) But it’s okay, I stayed alive and healthy. And henceforth he was more modest in his movements.

))) And after watching “Bloody Sport” I was sure that there is nothing deadlier than Van Damme’s signature spinner. And in some teenage fight at some teenage “shooter” in a vacant lot (I think most of them had them) I used this. That is, I was charged with the spirit of war in advance, I watched this movie before leaving the house, like a proverb, a motivational video, that’s all. In the end, I made the turntable and quite decently, almost one on one, but the enemy was ready for it (apparently he watched the same movie before the arrow))) In general, he met me with a strong blow right in the most pretentious area)))

By the way, in my childhood I had a funny story with “Kickborser”. I'm talking about the moment with the "cutting" of bamboo.

After watching it, my classmates and I argued about who would kick the football goal post harder, so that it would shake. The gate was small, poorly dug, but solid because it was iron. There were those who believed that if Tong Po could do it and Van Damme could do it, then there would be no problem. As a result, they had to miss physical education lessons for several weeks. It’s good that at least no one ended up in the hospital. :)

Even before this, I tried to do something similar at home, and I realized that if you hit the bone too hard, you won’t get away without breaking it, so I decided to approach it wisely - firstly, I chose the barbell that was more wobbly, and secondly, I wasn’t wearing shorts, but wide-leg sportswear. trousers, and before the actual contact, I turned my leg inward and hit not with a bone, but with a muscle (I don’t remember what it’s called). The bar was wide, round and hollow, it hummed, wobbled, everyone thought I was an idiot, but after that I didn’t even have any bruises. But it was fun to watch people's reactions, especially those who hit the bar before me. ;)

I agree to some extent. The first Western Ninja after all, I realize this is his cult status. BUT unlike some Jean or Steven of that time....American Ninja, in my opinion, has not stood the test of time and is outdated.

Well, it’s clear that this is such a naive retro movie))

I agree. I guess I started looking at his filmography with the wrong film, but I first saw him in the film Black Eagle, where the young Van Damme with less screen time and fewer words…..absolutely eclipsed the main character. With his physical characteristics, his appearance and charisma, he left Syo out of work.

Me too. I had 2 cassettes: one was Black Eagle, and the other was Revenge of the Ninja.

By the way, I also wanted to write about Hong Gil Dong in terms of nostalgia. I immediately remembered how enchantingly he jumped through the bushes there. But I say, such nostalgia is not really my thing. Example: three films that I watched on tape a long time ago at the same time: “AWOL”, “Kickboxer”, “Bloodsport”. One nostalgic image emerged. But I only watch Bloodsport. That's it. And Hong Gil Dong is a funny thing. And also “36 steps of Shaolin”.

Few people can surpass the charismatic Hong Gil Don's ninjas. :D

It seems to me that "American Ninja" is very funny, but from a "historical" point of view, the film is simply an epic film. There is a certain cult quality to it. And the surname Dudikoff is now a household name))) Thanks to other parts of this film, I saw David Bradley, whom I really liked at one time, especially in one of his later films, “Brutal Justice.” So it’s clear that the film is not important, but still there is something in it, this franchise is not spineless... I rewatched all the parts relatively recently and, you know, I got through it normally)).
As for Sho Kosugi, I always perceived him as a rather charismatic and impressive character in appearance (especially his eyes), but not very expressive as a movie fighter. Although the movie "Revenge of the Ninja" is also quite cult. Perhaps this is a nostalgic perception, but, to be honest, this is not typical for me.

“I would love to watch the film even if there was not a single fight in it” - “only a few people received such praise from me”

Not a single fighting game will receive such “praise” from me, because... if I go to see a movie with fights...if there aren't any, I'll be disappointed. Roughly speaking, you cut out a heart from a living person, and then say “well, it looks more or less like a living person” =)

The same applies to other genres: remove all humorous situations from comedy, all dramatic scenes from drama and all fantasy from science fiction. How will they look...normal? =)

In general, Jackie’s fights/stunts/action in general cannot be thrown away; all his best films are built on them. Without this, they will absolutely not look good (well, maybe only you will be able to watch them...and that’s unlikely). Jackie's films are action-comedies; take away the action (and with it 90% of all the humor will go away) and there will be nothing left from the film, and there is nothing wrong with that.

“Well, there, I watch the latest “Fast and Furious” films more or less with pleasure, and perhaps I would watch them without the fights too.”

And without action (racing, shooting, explosions) will you watch them too? ;)

    Author's gravatar

    And that’s how it works.

“I would love to watch the film even if there wasn’t a single fight in it” - only a few people received such praise from me. The films Jackie (although it is especially difficult to imagine them without fights), "Nowhere Man", and...
And... Well, there, I watch the latest “Fast and Furious” films with more or less pleasure, and perhaps I would watch them without the fights. “Oldboy” and other Koreas are here, although the pleasure there is dubious - the films are heavy and crazy dramas. The kind you look at while gritting your teeth.

And that's all. I wouldn't watch a single Jet Li film or a single Donnie Yen film without their fights. Not a single film by Bruce Lee, Mark Dacascos, Dragon Wilson, etc. There is nothing to say about Tony of our all martial arts Jah. And about Yuri Detochkin-Boiko. All these films, if they were without fights, I would watch only by chance and it’s far from a fact that I would see them to the end.

"REVENGE OF THE NINJA and NINJA 3 still look decent, unlike AMERICAN NINJA and other things."

I agree, but I would not say that Ninja and Sho are better in terms of the cinematic component, they are better in battles, because Kosugi is a better film fighter than Dudikoff.

“The question is different - on this site, people mainly support fighting games in general, and not the film component. This is normal. And the argument is basically useless.”

In general, I agree, but as for me... I suppose I see a good (for this genre) cinematic component in Undisputed 3 and Ip Man 1, which is why I consider them the best fighting games of recent years, because besides great fights there is something else there. =)

“Do the creators really not have any thoughts that they are ready to go back to prison again?”

There ARE thoughts and ideas, they just don’t want to be implemented (I already explained why above).

“As for Nu Image, I personally don’t think it’s a cool company.”

I already spoke about Nu Image above, they have chosen a certain line of behavior and this line brings them money, they don’t care about everything else. There is nothing good about this, but this is the reality (although sometimes they still come up with good products and ideas, but this is rather an exception to the rule =).

    Author's gravatar

I will NOT argue, because I will remain my opinion.
REVENGE OF THE NINJA and NINJA 3 still look decent, unlike AMERICAN NINJA and other things.
The question is different - on this site people mainly support fighting games in general, and not the film component. This is fine. And the argument is basically useless.

And how did it all start here - don’t the creators really have any thoughts that they are ready to go back to prison again?
As for Nu Image, I personally don’t think it’s a cool company.
In the old days, Golden Harvest was like walking to China...

Let them shoot from the books. There are many good stories. Particularly adventure ones.

I agree that cliches about ninjas are stupid and illogical. In the eighties, when I was a kid, it all looked cool. Both “American Ninja” and “Terminator Ninja” made us squeal with delight. But now such a spectacle leaves the impression of mummers’ antics. This is one of the reasons why I don't like watching old action movies. However, sometimes new ones.
As for “Undisputed,” I don’t give a damn whether it will be filmed at all and whether it will be filmed outside or in prison. Although it’s better, of course, to be free. “Undisputed” is basically nothing, but with amazing fights. As for “Ninja” the first one, I didn’t get through it at all. But I hope that the second one will be watchable as a film and the action will be up to par.

In fact, until now Scott has not had a successful combination of a good script and action. In general, not bad (in the sense that there is a script and acting) “Killer Games” or, for example, “Gringo” did not shine in terms of action. And “Undisputed” is pure, uncomplicated, not even an action game, but a fighting game. For now I have hope for the second Ninja. But even there, I'm sure I'll watch the movie once and watch the fights several times.

    OFF-TOP:
There is a series based on the DC comics Arrow, there is a lot of hand-to-hand combat, it is not very well shot, but the main character does a lot himself (he approached the series in good shape), and acquaintances often appear there like Darren Shahlavi (in the first episode of the first season) and Michael Jai White (in the second episode of the second season) + one scene was blatantly copied from Reid =)

So... trickster Caity Lotz appeared there on a permanent basis, playing the role of Black Canary =)

“If the creators knew the secret of the success of films, they would not think so. For it is precisely new ideas that bring them fame and money, and amazing cinema to the world.”

To paraphrase the quote a bit: “It’s Nu Image, baby!!!” They don’t care about the world and amazing cinema, they want to invest a minimum of money with a minimum of risk and make a profit. They don't give a damn about everything else!

“In general, speaking about CINEMA, I’ll say lately that it has dropped in quality. They make films one at a time.”

I don’t agree with this; this applies to both big films and small ones. And Oscar-winning dramas, and “stupid” fighting games. But this is...a matter of taste; arguing here is just a waste of time.

"Look, for example, what the difference is between these trailers and films."

The first is an average trailer for an average film (even compared to other films of those years). The second is a dynamic trailer that perfectly demonstrates what the viewer can expect from the film and creates interest in watching this film. + judging by what I saw: the artistic component (plot, acting) of Ninja with Scott is NOTHING inferior to the artistic component of Ninja with Sho.

Moreover, I want to note that the idea of how Casey (the Adkins character) uses the ninja suit looks much more adequate than the stupid cliches about Ninjas that are used in Sho’s films.

“In general, don’t bother with the plot anymore and film only fights. What...? How many emotions can you get looking at the screen!”

No need to exaggerate. Without history and heroes, only fights will be of interest to few people (even in sports, history is important: i.e. the personality of the fighters, their attitude to life, to each other, etc.) It’s all present here, yes - simple, yes - hackneyed, but quite adequate (unlike Isaac’s first Ninja, although this inadequacy is not his fault) and understandable to the average viewer.

    Author's gravatar

In the first case, there is a simple plot with clowning instead of fights. A black suit looks especially “bright” in daylight against a light background and a mask that glitters across half of California. This may have been impressive in the 80s, but not now.

"No desire: new ideas = hemorrhoids."

If the creators knew the secret to the success of films, they would not think so. Because it is precisely new ideas that bring them fame and money, and the world, amazing cinema.

In general, speaking about CINEMA lately, I will say that it has fallen in quality. They make films one at a time.
Look, for example, at the difference between these trailers and films.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1yWiiN7cXE

In the first case, it is a MOVIE with all the resulting consequences.

In the second there is simply an endless kaleidoscope of massacres.

There is a suggestion: Don’t bother with the plot anymore and just film the fights. And what...? How many emotions can you get while looking at the screen!

Is there really no brain for new ideas?

No desire: new ideas = hemorrhoids. Filming in prison is cheaper, easier and faster + there is an explanation in the style of “prison worked 3 times, it will work 4 times”

Scott and Isaac want to film “in the wild” in Thailand, Larnell joked that he wants to see Boyka in battles against several opponents, using improvised means, edged weapons and firearms. And the vast majority of fans see Boyka in freedom.

Boyka went to a desert island to live out his well-deserved years.
    The end of the film.
Personally, I’m frankly sick of this “Fighting story in jail”!

Freedom for Yuri Detochkin! i.e. Boyka! Stop torturing a man! Everything is fine with him. He gave up crime and became the UFC or Bellator champion.

One could fantasize that Boyka, when free, would try to start a new life and throw in some melodrama (for example, he could stand up for someone against the bad guys, etc.), but we don’t know from previous episodes his skills with firearms, etc. etc., we are used to seeing him only as a fighter. Therefore, most likely, the tournament is underground, but not in prison, but somewhere else. However, along the way I found my own denial - the same best of the best 3 and 4 are about showdowns with the mafia, etc., and not about sports, so everything is at the discretion of the writers and directors

The beginning of Rambo 3, and then the cards will fall :)

    Author's gravatar

Well, in general, I would like to be free, of course. at the end of the 3rd part it was clearly shown that he is now free. And dragging him back to prison by the ears would not be very good. In general, it would really be more logical that the striker was “repaired” in the wild and Gaga invited him to a new tournament. Well, or he had difficulties in his freedom and he used a familiar method to solve them.))
