Merantau at the Palm Springs Film Festival

As sad as it is to report this, despite all expectations, the DVD with the film “Merantau” did not appear in early January. But we can only be happy for him. After the international premiere, which took place on January 7 in Malaysia (Malaysian title - Merantau Warrior), the Indonesian action film continued its march through the festivals. First there was the Korean PiFan, then the Fantastic Fest in Austin, then the Hawaii Film Festival. Now it's the turn of Los Angeles and the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Unlike the 137-minute Indonesian theatrical version, cut-down versions of 111 and 107 minutes have been shown at festivals, and the Palm Spring festival is no exception. The 107-minute version of “Merantau” will be shown on January 15th and 17th in the “Modern World Cinema” program in the “action/adventure” category.

The director of the film, Garrett Evans, along with cinematographer Matt Flannery, left for Los Angeles yesterday and will be present at the screenings. The film, for which tickets can be purchased online for $11, will be shown with Indonesian/English subtitles.

Is the film not available online in any language? I would even look at what they show in the original...
