Mike Tyson and Paige VanZant: new stars in Kickboxer: Retaliation

I have not yet had time to go through the release of the remake of the cult film with Jean-Claude Van Damme "Kickboxer: Retribution" (premiere on August 19), and its creators are already hard at work preparing for the sequel. About the probability of continuation some time ago spoke myself Alain Moussi, who played the main role in the remake, but confirmation of his words appeared only recently.

Production of a film, directed by the screenwriter and producer of the new "Kickboxer" Dmitry Logothetis, has already started in Los Angeles and will soon “move” to Thailand. The company helps Logothetis in the production of the film Acme Rocket Fuel. The film's co-producers are Larry Neely и Stephen Michael Swadling of Our House Films.

To the cast of the sequel, which received the subtitle "Retribution" (Kickboxer: Retaliation), where already promised Alain Moussi, Jean-Claude Van Damme и Hafthor Julius Bjornsson (TV series “Game of Thrones”), who will play the new main villain, has joined who needs no introduction Mike Tyson and UFC fighter Paige Vanzant, ranked 7th in the UFC ranking among female fighters up to 52 kg.

"Iron" Mike, who has already pleased us this year with his appearance in third "Ip Man", in the sequel "Kickboxer" will embody on the screen the image of a criminal who is forced to take part in underground battles.

22-year-old Paige VanZant will play the main female role, portraying a certain Gamon, a professional fighter with criminal connections.

Paige was cast "Retribution" last but not least at the request of the producer Rob Hickman, who noticed the young athlete on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. He is confident that Vanzant's participation will only benefit the film.

Exact release date Kickboxer: Retaliation is still unknown, but its release is planned for 2017.

According to news agency THR, the cast "Kickboxer: Retribution" added another outstanding athlete - a famous football player Ronaldinho, who will play Kurt Sloane's cellmate in Thailand.

To the acting ensemble "Kickboxer: Retribution" famous actor joined Christopher Lambert. It is not yet known what role is assigned to the 59-year-old God of Thunder and the Highlander of all cinema, but the participation of such a venerable actor in the project is only pleasing.

Guys, the reboot is a completely new storyline. That is, the characters are the same, but the plot and story are completely new. The remake retains the main plot lines of the story. This is a significant difference.

The new Kickboxer is a reboot, not a remake. There is a significant difference between these terms.

A reboot is a series of remakes.))

      woakk,

There may be a difference, but why should these two concepts be mutually exclusive?

And I never really understood the difference between these concepts. There is an original film made 30 years ago, and there is a new film with the same characters, the same names, the same events, the same message, the same atmosphere and mood. And what is the specific and fundamental difference? A reboot, also known as a reboot, probably refers specifically to a franchise, that is, a series of films (books, comics, a series of toys - it doesn’t matter). However, in the case of "Kickboxer" - this is definitely a remake, and whether there will be a restart - time will tell.
