2018 is inexorably coming to an end, but we still want to introduce you to short films worthy of attention. Today there are enough such videos. We sincerely hope that you watch them and that you are as interested in the work of independent filmmakers as we are.

Night Shift

We want to start with a critically acclaimed 40-minute short film called "Night shift" (Night Shift) director Janos Balazs. It is obvious that the creators of Smena were inspired by Indonesian "Raids". But the film is more similar to the recent Philippine action film "Test purchase". First of all, it is similar in that the focus is on a strong female character.

The film is about a police officer who struggles with her own inner demons. But she will have to put off her soul-searching, because the girl needs to survive the mission - to go through five floors of a drug laboratory.

The main role in the film was played by a dancer Adele Alasmar, which already shone in the famous short film of 2016 called "Dancer". The girl was trained for several months by a fight choreographer Dan Stewart Ginnane. Alasmar's company in the film included: Stephen DeGenaro ("Remembering a Man"), Zia Kelly (“Upgrade”) and Liz Conrado.

The film is really worth watching. We suggest you do this immediately.

Oni

The next film was developed by the director Sam KJ (“Confrontation”) and a well-known stuntman Jerry Quill.

We are talking about a short mystical film "Daemon" (Oni), which tells the story of teenager Chris Hokama, who cannot control his own bloodlust when he must track down and take revenge on several thugs.

Played the main role in the film Anthony Ma (TV series "Special Forces"), and they accompanied him: Jerry Quill (TV series "Ninjak vs. Valiant Universe"), Naryana Cabral (“Rage: The Ronan Pierce Story”) and others.

Model A

We can’t ignore another combat sketch from Vlada Rimburga. This time the maestro of independent action cinema turned to the theme of cyborg girls in a short film "Model A" (Model A). I'm glad that a comedian and stuntman played the role in the film. Saree Sabella, which has not been seen since the days "Unlucky Stars".

Transportress

Haven't heard from the stunt team for a long time Movie-Do. We thought they had stopped filming. But no... There is still a small short film from them this year. And it's called "Carrier" (Transportress).

Seven actors. Five locations. Three cars. And two nights for filming. This is what the guys say about their sketch.

Starring: Jade Dregorius, Ellie MacFarlane, Eskindir Tesfaye ("Web of Lies"), Joshua Grote (“Special squad “Cobra”) and others.

Chrisis Zone

Another guys who haven't been seen for a long time - the team EMC Monkeys pleased us with a new short sketch.

The video is not overloaded with plot, but these guys are experts at fighting. This time they showed that they can choreograph in the spirit of Donnie Yen и John Salvitti. On the other side of the camera, as well as the fight director here - Malay Kim.

The cast includes: Tony Sre, Michael Heal, Johnny Young, Yavuz Topuz, Trevor Logan и Mark Poletti.

catch me

The next film in the selection, alas, is in Spanish and without English subtitles. But you can watch it at least for the sake of the provocative battle scenes a la Scott Adkins и Jackie Chan.

The film is called "Catch me" and tells the story of Leo, a thief who has just been released from prison and is trying to start a new life. But fate again brings him into contact with criminals.

Played the main role in the film Angel Vasquez, who we hope has a good future as an action actor. At least on the independent stage.

Never Give Up Drunk Monkey

Star of Japanese hand-to-hand action films "High Kick Girl" (2009) "Karate Girl" (2011) and "Kunoichi" (2011) - Rina Takeda It’s been a long time since she’s pleased her fans with new films where she’d be given the opportunity to do what she does best, leaving roles in romantic comedies or social dramas up to her.

But Rina does not forget her craft. For example, she was invited to the video of a girl pop group You'll Melt More! to the song "Never Give Up Drunk Monkey". In the video, Rina takes on the legendary role of Jackie Chan from the films. "Drunk master" (1979) and "The Legend of the Drunken Master" (1992). Confronts her Nobutoshi Takahashiwho "cosplays" first Hwanga Jan Lee, and then Ken Lo. By the way, Takahashi is a student of another legendary action film actor - Yasuaki Kurata.
