Short films Atophrn, Man of Chair, Mercenario Brothers, Renters, Versus and "Harry Potter"

Larnell Stovall is a martial artist and one of the most active directors of fight choreography and action, working not only in the States and Europe, but also in Bollywood (“Sultan”, “The Wrestler”). Moreover, Larnella wears it both for large projects, like a franchise "The Hungger Games" or "Creed: Rocky's Legacy" (2015), and by niche: "Indisputable 3" (2010) "Universal Soldier 4" (2012), remake "Kickboxer" (2016) and others.

Atophrn

Stovall recently directed a short film called Atophrn. This word will not say anything to people who are not versed in the popular American culture of the 80s and 90s, moreover, in American animation. Meanwhile, Larnell presented his dark version of the once very popular animated series "Thundercats" (ThunderCats). This is the style Larnell believes a major modern adaptation of a classic story could look like.

The main role in the film was played by a professional fitness instructor. Corey Callient, who worked with actors on the sites of such projects as "Black Panther" (2018) "Pacific Rim 2" (2018), duology "Creed" (2015, 2018) and others. He also played the role of the main boss in the film. Daniel Bernhard (“The Matrix 2-3”, “John Wick”), but, as in the case of another action short film "Death without Honor", his role here is not combat. Familiar names appeared here TJ Storm и Brandon Huor, who also did the choreography in this film.

Man on Chair

One of the most talented fight choreographers on the independent stage introduced his audience to the new video. Brian Sloyer, whose name can increasingly be seen in large Hollywood projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)

As always, Sloyer’s short films are not a simple showdown, but a much deeper story. For example, in the film "Man on a Chair" the main character performed Yoshi Sudarso confronts his anxiety, despair and loneliness in the face Little Kima. And the reason for this is parting with the girl she became Donna Lee.

Mercenario Brothers

It's been a while since we've seen work from the creative team and stunt team WOLF Stunts, but we waited.

Nine minute film "Mercenary Brothers" will tell the story of two mercenaries who, by the will of fate, find themselves in the jungles of South America, where they are hiding from cartel fighters. And they want one thing... to eat!

The film was directed by David Conk, who also choreographed the fight scenes. The main roles went to stuntmen Nik Pelekai и Devin Regan.

Renters

Black comedy "Tenants" appeared on the channel of the creative association Brothers in Crime, which periodically pleases us with funny combat sketches.

This short film by director and screenwriter James Atkins tells the story of two friends who want to rent a living space. However, they are consistently unlucky. And at the moment when they and other people want to rent the same garage, they will have to fight for their possession.

Interestingly, Atkins' film won awards at the Houston Short Film Festival. And now we can appreciate this short film.

Versus

At the head of a new sketch from the guys from Art School Dropouts there are beautiful girls again Stephanie Pam и Angela Jordan, who are excellent screen fighters. The director and choreographer is Joey Min.

The girls played the roles of hired killers who cross each other's paths.

Harry Potter and Voldemort's Wake

We are always happy when a domestic product appears in our selections. It’s all the more pleasant that the videos are from professional Russian stuntmen from the channel Action Effect They started appearing more often.

And again the guys made a humorous 10-minute sketch on the theme of a famous fairy tale "Harry Potter". And it's really funny!

Starring: Igor Polonsky, Igor Kutuzov, Anna Juneskaya and others.

I'll try to comment on this post again.
I only laughed at Harry Potter. “The Chair” is the most old-school kung fu filmed with modern technology. In "Mercenaries" interesting equipment flashes in places. In Thundercats, people messed with the style. “Renters” is a little funny.

"Atophrn". Stylish and all that. It looks like a blockbuster, although it is clear that it was shot cheaply. But you won’t lose anything if you don’t look, but you won’t give a damn if you look.

"Man on Chair". The sketch, almost philosophical, was shot in a modern way, but at the same time it was such classic kung fu that I almost shed tears. You can watch.

"Mercenario Brothers". An ordinary amateur short film, but just a few movements during the fight - well, really cool! The rest, however, is nothing special. but even so, you can watch it.

"Renters". It's funny, but there's nothing to see in terms of combat.

"Versus". It’s over-accelerated, plus it’s traditionally clear that the girls are not that trained, but they tried to portray something. You won't lose anything either if you watch or if you don't watch.

"Harry Potter and Voldemort's Wake". Boo-ha-ga! Especially those who are in the know will appreciate it. It's a shame it's so short.

Ps I don’t understand? Was my comment added or not?
Threat. For some reason, the comment doesn’t want to be added, although it was added in the next post without any questions.
