Ip Chun in the category Best Screen Debut

According to the Chinese resource m1905.com, the 86-year-old Ip Chun (Ip Chun), eldest son Ip Man, was nominated for the 7th Movie Channel Media Awards in the “Best Screen Debut” category.

Ip Chun was nominated for his role as his father's teacher in director Herman Yau's film "The Legend is Born: Ip Man", dedicated to Ip Man's youth. He played the role of Ip Man's teacher named Lun Bik.

Ip Chun said that he simply recreated the on-screen image of Lun Bik from his memories.

“In fact, I don’t know much about acting, I just know Master Lun’s character traits well,” admitted Ip Chun.

UPDATE: Added the latest video with Ip Man.

Ip Chun also stated to the media that will not give his consent to the filming of other films about Ip Man, meaning that “Birth of a Legend: Ip Man” will become last movie about Ip Man.

The other two Ip Man films directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen, Ip Man and Ip Man 2, were released in 2008 and 2010 before Birth of a Legend: Ip Man. Ip Chun was a consultant on these first two films.

Crystal Huang, who played Ip Man's wife, was nominated in the Best Actress category. Two people at once, Ip Chun and Dennis To (Ip Man), were nominated in the “Best Screen Debut” category. Louis Fan (Ip Man's sworn brother) will compete for the title of Best Supporting Actor.

The film “Birth of a Legend: Ip Man” opened the awards ceremony, which took place on Sunday. Its Chinese release is set for June 25, 2010.

The award ceremony will be broadcast on June 19 on the CCTV-6 channel and on the website m1905.com. Good luck to you, Ip Chun!

PS When asked if this means that Wong Kar Wai's film will, roughly speaking, be thrown into the trash, the author of the news replied:

No... From what I understand, Wong has already started filming the film. Filming started earlier, in January, but compared to the others, it has a very low priority. No details about the film have been announced yet, but from what I understand, Zhang Ziyi and Song Hye-Kyo will also be starring in it. ABC News has an article about Tony Leung and it says that production has already begun on the film, so technically Wong Kar Wai's film will be the last Ip Man film.

Thanks to the creators of the film Ip Man for letting the whole world know that China is rich in such personalities as this great master; if there are any, there is no need to hide them. Let them at least make films like this so people know about them

Yes, it’s also a pity that Ip Man didn’t live to this day, only the recordings of his last training remained...

It will be nice to see Ip Man's son in the prequel. It's great that he played Ip Man's teacher in the film.

I hope that the Ip Man threequel will happen as the last part of the film, despite Ip Chun's statement.
