Trailers for the films "Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior", "Enter the Dragon Girl" and "Ip Man: Master of Kung Fu"

We don’t know if you have noticed, but lately there have been more interesting projects from Bollywood on our website. It seems to our editors that Indian action cinema has made great strides forward and if it gets rid of “national” and “traditional” cliches, it may well compete with Western and certainly Asian cinema. And what do you think? Write about it in the comments!

Today’s selection includes two such projects. The first is an expensive historical action epic called "Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior" (Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior) from director and producer Oma Rauta ("City of Gold", "Ghost House") for which "Tanaji" became a feature-length directorial debut.

Synopsis: at the end of the 17th century, the Mughal padishah Aurangzeb, after the plunder of the port of Surat by the Marathas, decides to conquer South India. The Maratha Emperor Shivaji orders General Tanaji Malusar to recapture the Sinhagad fortress at any cost and contain the Mughal invasion, and they, in turn, send the military commander Udaybhan. A great battle is coming.

The following took part in the film: Saif Ali Khan ("Breaking Bad"), Ajay Devgan ("Raid"), Kajol ("Restless Ella"), Neha Sharma ("Our Love Stories"), Luke Kenny (“Rise of the Zombies”) and other actors.

Well it seems "Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior" can stand on a par with beautiful historical epics, like "Padmavati" (2017) "Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi" (2019) or "Battle of Panipat" (2019)

The film opens in theaters in its homeland January 10 2020 years.

Let's move on to a project of a lower class, but nevertheless directly related to the theme of our site - hand-to-hand action "Exit of the Dragon Girl" (Enter The Girl Dragon).

The film is directed by a strong artisan of niche Indian cinema Ram Gopal Varma (Any Moment, Veerapan, Sarkar 3). Warm even found Chinese funding for his project, but for some reason he began to advertise very dishonestly "Exit of the Dragon Girl" as the first Indian martial arts film. This, of course, is not true.

The story in the film will revolve around a girl who is so obsessed with the martial art of Jeet Kune Do and its founder Bruce Lee, that he has the most real romantic feelings for the movie fighter who left the world long ago. And everything would (probably) be fine if the main character had not saved the unlucky guy from the hands of street hooligans. A guy falls in love with a girl, and the legendary Bruce Lee becomes the third wheel. Or can the saved one become the odd one out? The answer to this question is promised to be given in the film.

Initially, the main role was supposed to be played by a popular actress Disha Potani (“Armor of God: In Search of Treasures”, “Rebel 2”, “Bharat”), but in the end the role went to the debutante Puji Bhalakar. She is accompanied by the following actors: Parth Suri ("Bikers 3"), Rajpal Yadav ("Total Fun"), Jeet Kune Do instructor Tianlong Xi and others.

The trailers look rather strange and it seems that they are trying to focus the viewer not on the martial arts, but on, ahem, the forms of the leading actress. It is quite possible that this best movies for phone. What? And this happens. The film will be released in 2020, but the exact premiere date has not yet been announced.

We want to finish today’s selection of trailers with a Chinese film for online cinemas. We're talking about a hand-to-hand independent action movie. "Ip Man: Master of Kung Fu" (Ip Man Kung Fu Master).

At the director's helm is Li Liming (“Zhong Kui: Demon Slayer”), he also wrote the script. Yes, just recently another low-budget film about a Wing Chun master was released for online release "Ip Man and the Four Kings", but Chinese filmmakers are trying to get as close as possible to the fourth sequel, released on December 20 "Ip Man" starring Donnie Yen.

The plot is simple and far from new: Master Yip reluctantly, but very practically, resists the Japanese occupiers.

Played the main role in the film Dennis To, who has already embodied the image of a famous master on the screen twice: in "Ip Man: Birth of a Legend" (2010) and "Kung Fu League" (2018). In other roles they appeared Tong Xiaohu ("Super Four") and Michael Wong ("From Vegas to Macau").

"Ip Man: Master of Kung Fu" appeared on YouKu 23 декабря 2019 года and is available to those who have a VIP subscription to this online cinema.

Being a big fan of Indian cinema, on the one hand I am very happy at the pace of its evolution, but on the other hand, I am a little sad that it is losing its national characteristics and becoming international. It would be good to stop somewhere on the golden mean. I will definitely watch Enter the Girl Dragon. I’m ready to look at bouncing tits endlessly, and in my opinion, the genre is sorely lacking in female martial arts stars.
