Jimmy Wang Yu talks about Wu Xia movie

Jimmy Wang Yu (Jimmy Wang Yu), a legend of Shaw Brothers films, celebrated his 68th birthday this spring. It is not surprising that on the set of the film “Wu Xia” (aka Dragon) many were worried about his health and capacity, and in a recent interview Wang Yu shared his thoughts with reporters. Here's what he said about this:

“On the first day of filming, I saw my stunt double and deep down I was very angry that I was considered a decrepit old man. Even though I'm 68, every morning I run for 40 minutes, lift weights for 100 reps, and do 100 push-ups. I approached Peter Chan and said that I wouldn’t use a stunt double, let them let me fight. For me, even working with wires would not be a hindrance. However, Chan told me that Donnie Yen was afraid not that I would not be able to handle the fights, but that he might accidentally hit me, and he asked for forgiveness in advance. Later in one of the episodes, when Donnie Yen had to hit me, I walked straight up to him and insisted that he hit me harder. Then we started filming the fight.”

    Thank you.
As an actor he is not very good, as a fighter, well, so-so, let's say. But I’m glad that he still rebelled and started working again.
