Tsui Hark, Yuen Bun, Jet Li - the “holy trinity” of Dragon Gate

In film "Swordsman 2" 1992 director Tsui Hark, fight director Yuen Bun и Jet Li, the so-called “golden trinity”, using a creative approach to fights, embodied the character of the works on the screen Jin Yuna - a swordsman named Dugu Qiubai (Dugu Qiubai). Now, in a new action movie “Flying Swords of Dragon Gate” (Flying Swords of the Dragon Gate) The “golden trinity” is back together and ready to present the audience with a new, more advanced fencing technique.

Yuen Bun shared details:

Such high swordsmanship skills only exist in legends, as few people can achieve such an ideal level of swordsmanship. This time the sword will be used by Jet Li, so we have the opportunity to create more complex fights, sword fights in a “new way”, and considering his experience and skill, he will definitely not let us down.

Tsui Hark explained:

When creating wushu choreography, it is necessary to take into account three main principles: the grace and complexity of movements, the production as a whole, and how to use film to reveal the features and principles underlying wushu. The 3D format provides a completely new visual experience, and fight choreography originally created for 2D will not have the desired impact on viewers. Therefore, it is not possible to use only these three principles of traditional filming. We need to come up with fights that would show 3D in all its glory.

Jet Li agreed that filming the fights in 3D very hard. Such shooting is extremely difficult, but sometimes, even after a perfect take, due to the special requirements for 3D positioning, you have to reshoot several more times. And in order to have a sense of depth 3D was stronger, it was necessary to literally “reshape” a number of difficult fights. He said that each episode requires more than 10 takes.

I believe that after this film my martial arts skills will improve. After all, now I am able to take the necessary position [for 3D] even in the air. Tsui Hark likes to edit all the fights on set and watch them through 3D glasses. The force of the blows and speed in this case look more impressive, as if everything is happening about a meter away from you. That's why I felt more stressed and nervous.

Ooooh, I will be looking forward to this film, the combination of Jet Li + Tsui Hark (as mentioned above) is always excellent fight staging and execution. And of course, let's look at Jet Li - he has an excellent jian fencing technique. :)

Jet Li in tandem with Tsui Hark are already included in the classics of Hong Kong cinema with the film Once Upon a Time in China. I hope this new film will be at a high technical level. Although the 3D is alarming.
