Avi Lerner spoke about "The Expendables 4", "The Expendable Beauties" and the new "Hellboy"

Prouduser Avi Lerner (“London Has Fallen,” “Undisputed 4”) told reporters about Sylvester Stallone, "The Expendables 4" (Expendables 4), about the female version of the Expendables, about "Hellboy" and much more.

Over the past three years there have been lots of news and updatesrelated to the franchise "The Expendables" and the female version of the series called "Unstoppable Beauties" (The ExpendaBelles). In addition, this month it became known about the upcoming reboot "Hellboy".

Founder Millennium Films recently sold 51% of its shares for $100 million. Continuing the interview, Lerner also talked about the fourth “Expendables” - work on the film has been going on for a very long time, starting immediately after the release of the third film in 2014.

In March, Stallone left the franchise as a whole (he did the same with the franchise "Rambo"), and moved on to other projects, which included the second film "Escape plan" (Escape Plan) starring Stallone.

Lerner, whose company is celebrating its 25th anniversary, spoke with reporters about the Expendables team:

THR: Sylvester Stallone says he won't be doing The Expendables again.

Lerner: He talked about it.

THR: Could there be another movie?

Lerner: Yes, but not with Sylvester. There will be more unstoppables, but not with him. Sly wanted to produce the film, but I don't think he will do it. He's a good actor. He's a good writer. But he's not a very good producer. And I didn't want to give him $100 million to make a movie.

THR: Are you still friends with him?

Lerner: Obviously it's not the same as it used to be. But I respect him. I think he's one of the icons of the action genre around the world. You know, I took him when he was down, when no one wanted to take him into films. And I gave him Rambo and The Expendables. I think I gave it new life.

THR: So you won't be making The Expendables 4?

Lerner: We will film, but without Sylvester Stallone. We have a script. We are working on it. Listen: for example "Batman", - they changed a lot of guys. Spider-Man same way.

THR: What's the biggest budget movie you've made?

Lerner: «The Expendables 3." The budget there was 80 million dollars.

THR: What's next for you?

Lerner: We're going to start working on "Hellboy" and above «Expendables 4 next year. We are also working on a female version «Unstoppable." The film will feature 10 big female names who are very famous in the film industry. We are working on a film "Fallen angels"We're making a movie called «211» with Nicolas Cage. And we just finished working on the film "Stoic" with Antonio Banderas. Nicolas Cage broke his leg while filming a new movie «211" in Bulgaria. The 53-year-old actor fell while performing one of his stunts at the Boyana Cinema Center in Sofia, as a result of which he injured his ankle. Filming will resume in early June, when the actor recovers from injury.

In general, it seems to me that this is some kind of PR move. Everything is somehow too artificial in this news about “The Expendables 4”.

Interesting interview. This is where Mr. Lerner says that he took Stallone under his wing while he was downstairs. Of course, I apologize, but it seems to me that when Sylvester came to Nu Image, he already had the 6th Rocky film under his belt at that time, which collected a very good box office, both in the USA and around the world. So here Mr. Lerner is being a little disingenuous, of course. He also says that he “gave Stallone The Expendables,” which may be true, but again it seems to me that without Stallone this project would not have happened at all. So who gave what to whom is a moot point.
Mr. Avi Lerner also said that he would still make the 4th episode of The Expendables, even without Stallone. Sorry, of course, but Sylvester won’t be in the film, Schwarzenegger won’t be there, and other masters of the action genre won’t be there either. Well, friends, then it won’t be the film “The Expendables”, but something else, and the box office in cinemas will be meager, I think so.

Agree. All Sly episodes rest solely on Sly.
