Well, we move on to an ambitious Russian project "Major Thunder", which is a film adaptation of the famous comic book series about MIA Major Igor Grom, which is published by Bubble Comics. The creators of Thunder are the screenwriters Artem Gabrelyanov, Evgeny Fedotov, Ivan Skorokhod, as well as artists Konstantin Tarasov и Anastasia Kim.
It is curious that this comic has already appeared in a film adaptation. This is a short film "Major Thunder" 2017. Then both viewers and critics were more than satisfied with the quality of the film adaptation. The visuals, music and action were praised. The film, by the way, was one of the three winners in the category "Martial Arts Short Film" as part of our project. Then it seemed that Thunder had a full-length future and it was very close.
At the end of 2017, Bubble presented another short film to the audience, which, according to the creators, was supposed to become a kind of teaser for the upcoming comic action movie "Major Grom: Plague Doctor" (2017)
However, for unknown reasons, the production process of the feature began to stall: the director was changed, as well as the actor in the leading role. Instead of Alexandra Gorbatova the role of the major has passed Tikhon Zhiznevsky. The director's reins are from Vladimir Besedin moved on to Oleg Trofim, who is famous for sports drama "Ice" (2017)
Well, three years have passed and now Bubble Comics presented a full-fledged trailer for her brainchild.
Synopsis: Police Major Igor Grom is known throughout St. Petersburg for his disruptive character and irreconcilable position towards criminals of all stripes. Incredible strength, analytical mind and integrity - all this makes Major Thunder an ideal policeman who knows no barriers. But everything changes dramatically with the appearance of a man in a Plague Doctor mask. Declaring that his city is “sick with the plague of lawlessness,” he begins to “cure” by killing people who at one time escaped punishment with the help of money and high status in society. Society is excited. The police are powerless. For the first time, Igor encounters difficulties in an investigation, the results of which may determine the fate of the entire city...
Starring: Tikhon Zhiznevsky (dilogy “At the Game”), Lyubov Aksenova (“Salyut-7”), Alexey Maklakov (“Time to collect stones”), Alexander Seteykin (“Frontier”), Sergei Goroshko ("Abigail") Dmitry Chebotarev (TV series “Vampires of the Middle Band”) and others.
The film's premiere date has not yet been determined, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, "Major Grom: Plague Doctor" will be released only next year. We can only wait and hope that Russia will finally acquire its own high-quality comic blockbuster, which can become a real brand.
