Review of the film “In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds”

When I found out that Dolph Lundgren teamed up with the controversial Z-film director Uwe Boll, I was stunned. After success “The Expendables”, as well as relatively successful work in DTV-movies, I was shocked that Lundgren starred in a feature film directed by the same humanoid who created such memorable “pearls” of cinema as "Alone in the Dark" и "Far Cry". Did he need money? Got a good script? I think everyone is wondering about this. Despite my skepticism, I approached the project without any preconceptions. In the end, even if Ball and director, availability Dolfa, in theory, should have eclipsed any shaky moments in the production. This is enough for optimism.

“In the Name of the King 2: Two Worlds” this is a failure. This is a cheap action movie with a Renaissance feel, borrowing most of its elements from "Army of Darkness" Sam Raimi and a lot of cliches from famous fantasy tomes. Directing Bolla is a sloppy amateur mess; I absolutely don’t understand how he manages to find funds for his “under-projects”. Lundgren, meanwhile, seems to be genuinely enjoying the fact that he's involved in a project that could easily ruin the careers of lesser actors. What's worse is that the film is incredibly boring. It's so boring that I fell asleep several times during daytime viewing. This is an extremely bad sign, especially if you are watching an action movie starring a legend of the genre.

Lundgren acting Granger, a former military man who, after an attack by assassins, finds himself in a mystical world full of magic and danger. Obviously our hero is the notorious Chosen, a man whose appearance was foretold in one of those prophecies described in detail in the dark times. Local King – a suspicious person with greasy hair and an unkempt beard – convinces Granger hunt down and destroy a mysterious woman known only by one name - Mother. Of course, everything is not as it seems at first glance, and Granger you will have to choose which side to take. Yes, and he will also fight with Dragon. Cheaply rendered computer Dragon, of course, but, nevertheless, Dragon, as such.

Where to begin? Should we tackle the ridiculously terrible storytelling or discuss the director's headache-inducing use of shaky camera? To be honest, I'm not sure. I think it will be easier to talk about the positive aspects of the film, about those fleeting moments when you are really happy that you are watching an action movie sequel that is in no way connected with the first part, which many people don’t give a damn about, but, honestly, I can’t remember any of them. Even screen transformation Lundgren becoming a war veteran could not brighten up my sad state of mind. And that's saying something, considering I liked a lot of him DTV-projects. I even paid two whole dollars for a copy "Sudden Impact" in order to sob loudly at leisure. Unfortunately, Dolph It was simply not possible to save this project, but, in truth, nothing could have saved it from failure.

I sincerely wish I could say something good about “Two worlds”, but I don’t want to blatantly lie to you. Even if you are an ardent fan Dolph Lundgren, who feels the urgent need to re-watch every single one of his films, I would advise you to think twice before spending even the slightest time watching. It's a little funny to see trying Lochlina Munro portray an exceptionally sloppy King, since he, apparently, was based on his game, which you can see every evening on the channel Medieval Times. “In the Name of the King 2” It's not even enjoyable when it comes to irony, which is a damn shame. If Ball and the company spent more time on entertainment and less time on strange erotic episodes and occasionally ridiculous storytelling, perhaps I wouldn’t completely reset "Two worlds" from accounts. I apologize to Mr. Dolph Lundgren. I'm still on your side. My regards!
