Trailers for the films "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", "Gintama" and "Ajin: Half-Man"

Today's selection of trailers will be of interest to fans of Japanese cinema and Japanese animation, since all the films presented in the selection are adaptations of animated films, of which there are plenty in 2017: we have already watched the Hollywood adaptation "Ghost in the Shell", and we are waiting for the premiere by the end of the year "Fullmetal Alchemist".

The first trailer belongs to the film "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" (Jojo's Bizzare Adventure), which is directed by the great and terrible Takashi Miike (“13 Assassins”, “Harakiri 3D”).

We have already wrote about the film, but let us remind you of the plot: the illegitimate scion of the mysterious Joster clan named Josuke Higashikata has had a number of unusual abilities since childhood. But a time came when various superpowers suddenly began to awaken in many residents of his hometown of Morioh. Why is unknown. But psychopaths and serial killers often became superhumans.

The main role in the film was played by a young actor Kento Yamazaki (mini-series “Death Note”), and his company is: Ryunosuke Kamiki (“Survival style 5+”), Nana Komatsu ("Knife in the Water") Masaki Okada ("Space Brothers") Takayuki Yamada (“13 killers”), Makenyu Arata (“Cheerleader”) and a classic of Japanese cinema Jun Kunimura ("Kill Bill 1-2").

The prolific Miike-san this year besides "JoJo" releases another adaptation of Japanese comics - a samurai action film "Blade of the Immortal", which will soon go to the Cannes Film Festival.

The Japanese premiere of the mystical action film "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" will take place 4 August 2017 year. The film company is responsible for distribution Warner Bros Japan.

Well, we offer you to watch the trailer of the film, in which, for some reason, minimal attention is paid to the action, although there was plenty of it in the original.

The second trailer for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has appeared online.

The next picture was also filmed by Warner Bros Japan and is also a film adaptation of the famous manga by Hideaki Sorachi and the anime of the same name. We are talking about a title called "Gintama" (Gintama).

Responsible for directing the upcoming comedy fantasy-adventure action film Yuichi Fukuda, which, in addition to various TV series, distinguished itself with a trash duology "Perverted Mask" (2013, 2016). He, together with Hideaki Sorachi wrote the script.

It is very difficult to retell the plot of Gintama, but the official synopsis comes to our aid: imagine that in the middle of the 20th century, not Europeans sailed to Japan, but... aliens from outer space. They crushed all resistance and turned the planet into a big booth. XNUMX years after the invasion, Japan is ruled by a puppet shogunate, carefully ensuring that the half-dead patriotic samurai do not raise their voices against aliens. The main character, the lazy slacker Gintoki Sakata, was previously among the underground, but then gave up saving humanity and makes money from all sorts of nonsense.

The leading role went to the popular actor Shunu Oguri, who is well known for his collaboration with director Takashi Miike (the “Crows” duology, “Lupin III”, “Terraforming”), as well as other major projects (“Nobunaga Concert”, “Museum”). Oguri also appeared in the first film. "Perverted Mask" Yuichi Fukuda. In addition to Xiong, the ensemble cast is completed by the following actors: Masaki Suda ("Death Note: Light Up a New World"), Kanna Hashimoto (dilogy “Assassination Classroom”), Masami Nagasawa ("The Crossing" by John Woo) Masaki Okada (“Anger”) and others.

Japanese premiere date of the film: July 14, 2017.

Trailers for the films "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", "Gintama" and "Ajin: Half-Man"

We finish the selection with a project called "Ajin: Half-Man" (Ajin) about which we already wrote. Let us remind you that this film is based on the comic book series of the same name by Gamona Sakurai.

The film was directed by a Japanese director Katsuyuki Motohiro ("The curtain rises")

The film is about a simple high school student named Kei Nagai, who was supposed to die under the wheels of a truck. However, Kay survived, at the same time finding out that he belongs to ancient immortal beings who are only half human. Government agents immediately begin hunting for the guy, and Kei himself meets another adzin named Sato, who intends to destroy all of humanity.

The role of Kei Nagai was played by a rising star of Japanese cinema Takeru Sato (the “Vagabond Kenshin” trilogy), and he was accompanied by: Tetsuji Tamayama ("Norwegian Wood", "Lupin III"), Go Ayano ("Vagabond Kenshin") Yudai Chiba (“Mr. Maxman”) and others.

The same team that handled the action scenes in the trilogy is responsible for directing the action in the film. "Vagabond Kenshin".

"Ajin: Half-Man" opens in Japanese box office 30 September 2017 years. So far, only a teaser for the upcoming science fiction action film has appeared online. Well, let's watch it and wait for the trailer.

Death Trance is nonsense, but versus 2000 is the best of Sakaguchi, despite the fact that it is a very strange movie, but it was shot very cool, cool soundtrack, cool action scenes.

Dave, I liked “Versus 2000” for its action scenes (although it is clear that the film is old with corresponding problems in staging and cinematography). I liked the soundtrack. But for everything else I can only say: wow...

I agree, the Japanese always have problems with logic in their films, they are a strange people, and their action films are always lame with rare exceptions.

And again my comment was swallowed.

One quote keeps popping into my head.

“It’s simple,” Harry crossed his legs, plunging into memories. — Where I studied this, there were people who loved hand-to-hand combat. Have you heard of this?
“I saw a couple of films with Chinese with my mother, although she doesn’t really like that,” Carter looked at him with interest. Well, at least some things are becoming painfully clear. It would be better if she got Jackie Chan!
    — In general, how was the situation explained to me? - Harry played with his wand, remembering, but Diana stubbornly looked into his eyes. - It seems like there are styles from China or Japan - all these things with spiritual self-improvement, the path of the warrior, internal flows of energy, training until the age of seventy and other gymnastics. They were invented in countries that either lost all their wars or closed themselves off from them - for hundreds and hundreds of years.
    - I suppose there is something else? Like ours?
“Oh yeah,” Harry grinned. - And where I was, I met mostly people like that. Exactly south of the spiritual fighters you can find damp, hot and homeless Southeast Asia. An unfortunate land, although rich in its own way - probably all the nations on earth fought there - Harry shivered a little, remembering the same damned Cambodia - and Diana looked at him with wide eyes. He immediately continued: “So, they also developed their own styles there, but the people were a little less interested in self-knowledge.” Therefore, Muay Thai, which an Irish friend of mine loved so much - only Finnigan has yet to do it, yes, Harry thought - or Malay silat - these are very, very simple things aimed at quickly breaking the enemy’s arm, a few ribs and preferably the spine.
Harry smiled, remembering Sheamus's enthusiastic stories.
“People who are writhing in pain can no longer hit you.” This is the only truth that can be gleaned from these styles. And you will never need others.

I would definitely add “Black Belt” Nagasaki. A sane karate movie.

People, tell me: are there Japanese action films on the level of “Ong Bak”, “The Raid”, “Undisputed 2-3”, “The Man from Nowhere” or something else? I tried to remember, I only remembered “Baramui, warrior of the wind,” then I looked at the data - Korea. When I saw the trailer for “Re:Born”, I downloaded about half a dozen of Sakaguchi’s films - they turned out to be such trash that I even doubted “Re:Born”.

      Wave,

Well, here you need to understand that the Japanese shoot action a little differently. Therefore, “the level of “Ong Bak”, “Raid” or “Undisputed” is absolutely impossible to catch - the film schools are different. For the same Sakaguchi, if in terms of combat, it is better to watch “Deadly Trance”. Well, well, they shot action films well in The 70s and 80s (Sonny Chiba, Hiroyuki Sanada, Etsuko Shihomi, etc.), of course, adjusted for the times. Of the modern ones, I can suggest “Princess of Swords,” the “Vagabond Kenshin” trilogy, the first films with Rina Takeda. By the way, yes, Rina...

Danil Chupakhin, “Deadly Trance,” among other films, Sakaguchi downloaded. In general, exactly which films of his he downloaded - I got the list on this site. They advised in the comments and notes. I won’t say what exactly “Deadly Trance” is about, but I definitely didn’t like it, because I didn’t like any of the ones I watched.

The video with Rina Takeda was not impressive. The level of the production is a good one. Those. on the one hand, it’s solid, on the other hand, you can’t believe the power of the blows and the opponents are too stupid.

But, okay, I understand. I'll take a look when the opportunity arises. But there’s a mocking thought in my head, like Japan is the hyped-up homeland of hyped-up karate and hyped-up samurai, but there’s no cinematic outcome from it.

          Wave,

The best films about karate were made in the 70s. I recommend the Born to Fight trilogy. And there are a lot of great samurai films. Consider the fight scenes in the classic “Zatoichi” or “Lone Wolf and His Child”! In the 80s there were swashbuckling samurai action films like Shogun Assassin. In modern Japanese cinema, unfortunately, it is not often possible to see high-quality action films, well, because the course at the Japanese film school is different. Russian cinema also has problems with action films and hand-to-hand movies. Well, in the end, it’s a matter of taste: I like “Deadly Trance”, and “Shinobi” with Sakaguchi is good, but there’s more to it than any ninja fantasy, of course.

            Author's gravatar

Danil Chupakhin, perhaps I should accept that Japanese action films, like Russian ones, are not my thing.
I looked (in the “flipped through” format) “Black Belt” recommended below by Alex. The impression is that athletes are fighting there. Those. two complaints: a) there is no high-quality cinematic production and camera work, b) sports karate is demonstrated, not combat (street, military, etc). It is clearly noticeable that the actors there are accustomed to performing according to strict rules.
Yes, pathos is our thing: one blow - one corpse! The film itself somehow has a plot, images, an idea, although it is completely not to my taste. But specifically, it’s a simultaneously spectacular and realistic hand-to-hand combat, alas... This is not a hand-to-hand action movie, it’s a parable film, where the actual battle is secondary.
            .
I saw “Zatoichi” from 2003 once. I liked it as a film. Like a fencing action movie, well, so-so. I will say neither for nor against.
            .
Can I have a link to “Born to Fight”? Otherwise, Google clogs up the results with the Thai film of the same name, and when I try to Google with the addition of Japan and minus 2004, it gives up some kind of obscenity.
