News about: The Karate Kid 2, The Expendables 2, Machete

The first part "The Karate Kid" paid for itself at the box office, and "Sony" gave the green light to create a sequel. Now all that remains is to find the right people to work on the script. Here they appeared Ethan Reif и Cyrus Voris. Their track record includes scripts for films such as "Kung Fu Panda", "Robin Hood" Ridley Scott and the television series “Sleeping cell”.

What will the second part be about? "The Karate Kid"? At the moment no one knows because Columbia Pictures keeps everything secret. But with box office receipts topping the $300 million mark, "Sony" will definitely want to make the film as quickly as possible. There is no doubt that Jade Smith will star again as his dad is producing the sequel Will Smith and company Overbrook Entertainment.

UPDATE: Added some more information about "The Expendables 2"

Sylvester Stallone wrote a few words about the sequel on his Twitter "The Expendables":

Last night I had dinner with Bruce Willis. I want to take it to "The Expendables 2" for the role of a supervillain. What do you think about it?

And on Wednesday, August 25, the film premiered in Los Angeles at the newly renovated Orpheum Theater "Machete" (Machete). Mariachi played on stage, and the hall was packed with fans, famous people in Hollywood and honored guests.

Machete, aka Danny Trejo, arrived on a motorcycle dressed as his hero, covered in tattoos designed by a popular tattoo and graffiti artist in Los Angeles Mark Machado (Mister Cartoon). Trejo was accompanied by more than twenty lowrider cars, kindly provided by the automobile club "Lifestyles". The stars of the film sat in them: Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson, Uncle Marin And, of course, Robert Rodriguez. Also present at the premiere was Rodriguez's longtime friend and colleague Quentin Tarantino and actor Clifton Collins Jr. Unfortunately, there was no legendary Robert De Niro, was also absent Steven Seagal and brawler Lindsay Lohan.

Before the start of the session, he came on stage Rodriguez and told the audience that the idea for "Machete" he got it during filming “Desperate” (Desperado). After thanking the entire cast, he admitted that he was very pleased with the result, and then introduced everyone by name, not forgetting to mention Quentin Tarantino.

Ultimately, he came on stage Danny Trejo. After thanking the audience, he spoke about a man whom he met several years ago in England. He asked for his autograph and wanted Trejo signed on his back. What a surprise Danny was when he saw that this man had a tattoo on his back. Machete. After this incident, the actor contacted by phone Robert Rodriguez, explained to him what happened and said: “We need to make this film and make it well!”

Then the lights were turned off and the session began. It was clear from the reaction of the audience that Trejo и Rodriguez achieved what they were striving for. Unfortunately, details about the film itself will not be disclosed until September 3, but we can already say that the film is simply “killer.” It's no worse than the trailer from "Gridehouse", and the actors perfectly suit the roles of their characters. The film is highly recommended for viewing.

There was a rumor that the actor Vernon Wells (the villain from “Commando”) will also have a role in "The Expendables 2". According to the information, he reported this himself Wellscurrently engaged in promotion "Power Rangers Time Force", where he plays a certain Ransika. He also said that the character's name Trench, whose role will be played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, will get more screen time. Friendly joker Wells did not go into detail about his role, since many of its details are currently in the development stage.

On the wave of popularity "The Expendables" in a hurry, all sorts of clones with similar casts began to appear. For example, "Human factor" (The Human Factor), with Michael Dudikoff, Danny Trejo, Gary Daniels и Michael Madsen. This is a thriller about a reporter and a detective who team up to investigate the disappearances of New York homeless people.

Sometimes, you can read the wishes of a trained action actor in the following way:
“We wish you to find a high-quality fight scene director”
So, first of all, I would like The Karate Kid 2 to start looking for a person who can truly reveal the potential of the film. Jackie Chan in the first film looked like some kind of “scourge of the unemployed” (a loader from an agricultural battle, an ideal Soviet period ) but nothing like a kung fu teacher, the Gremers failed their job “excellently”, as did the costume designers. The screenwriter and director of the second part need to take total control over the role of Jackie Chan (unfortunately, I understand that this is not possible) in order to completely eradicate the stupid clownery (or is it just senile insanity), there is no seriousness on his part in his role for a minute or a second (beating up a group of teenagers, how could anyone in their right mind and sober memory have missed such a scene on the screens?) .And changing his outfit, looking at a “homeless unemployed” is completely unattractive. Let’s remember the movie Kill Bill 2 Pai Mei, he was really a master and teacher of kung fu.

In my opinion, the difference is visible to the naked eye (even with the first performer of the role of Mr. Kesuke Miyagi Pat Morita) in this film Jackie Chan does not reach the level of a kung-fu mentor.

    Original size

I would also really like to reduce the rope kung fu in the film. I would like to emphasize that, in my opinion, there is no need to focus on the screenwriter in such films as The Karate Kid (more or less an adequate script is enough) if you make a serious and thoughtful plot, you will have to take a completely different galaxy of actors - this is, firstly, and secondly, they go to such films for something completely different, tricking, revealing on the big screen the elements of one or another combat system, each time they expect something new from the fight scene. Therefore, in the first place It’s our turn to look for adequate directors of action scenes and fight scenes, nor an action coordinator (for all of them at once) or a stunt coordinator, namely choreographers, people with an artistic eye.

Regarding The Expendables 2, I wrote a lot, Sly will be saved by about the same thing, the search for specialists who would undertake to fix the “collective farm” of the first part. And the expansion of the cast, the inclusion of those actors whom everyone expects.
