“Ong-Bak” star sued

A woman named Oon Hee Park from South Korea has filed a lawsuit against Thai actor Tony Jaa (Tatchakorn Yirum), accusing him of breach of contract.

Plaintiff Un Hee Park, through Mr. Thanakorn Tevaroj, hired lawyer Jaropul Reungket and the suit was filed in civil court yesterday. It states that Mr. Thatchakorn signed a contract on July 4, 2009, according to which he borrowed one million baht from her.

"Mr. Thatchakorn promised to pay off the debt after filming ended “Ong-Bak 2” and the premiere show. But after the film’s release, he did not pay,” she claims, saying that she reminded him many times to pay.

She demands to force Mr. Thatchakorn to pay the debt and add to it moral damages in the amount of 7.5% of the total amount. If both parties cannot reach an agreement, the court hearing will begin on January 25 at 13:00 local time.

Mr. Thanakorn said he and Ms. Park are business partners who bought the film's distribution rights.

He described complex disputes between the two sides and hinted that others could follow the suit, but declined to elaborate.

There have been no comments from the actor himself yet; a source from the Sahamongkol company also said that Tony Jaa will not be able to comment on anything at the moment. Most likely he took a break from filming “Ong-Bak 3” and will attend the birthday celebrations of the King of Thailand with his parents in Buriram, a northeastern province of Thailand.
