“Fridays Child” or a duet of two “Dragon Ladies”

13-time world champion in various combat disciplines (karate, kickboxing, etc.) Zara Pitian nicknamed “Lady Dragon” recently signed a contract to film a new British action film with horror elements called "Friday's Child" (Fridays Child).

The most interesting thing is that in the director’s project Dina Meadow the main character of the duology will star “Lady Dragon” Cynthia Rothrock, with which Zara I met in May in Birmingham at one of the MA shows. Journalists tried to “fish out” Meadow information about roles Rothrock и Pitian, but he, as expected, was silent, “like a fish on ice.” :)

Interesting Facts:

  • In the film by Dominic Burns "UFO" (UFO) Zara Pitian will fight on screen with himself Jean-Claude Van Damme.
  • In one of the documentaries she was given this description: “Looks like a model, hits like Bruce Lee”.
  • Zara Fithian opened its own academy, which teaches children aged 4 to 12 years karate and taekwondo according to a special program called "CDK" (character building karate). There is also a separate new program for adults called "Total Combat", consisting of Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Savata, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Vale Tudo.
  • Academy Zary recently visited “reactive” Benny Urkides. In one of her interviews, she said that Benny was simply great, he still has the same speed. Urquidez conducted a seminar, and the students were simply delighted. He gave Zare a lot of useful advice about her film career and teaching at school.
  • On set, she prefers full contact strikes.
  • One of her new projects is an action movie called “Nui Lung”, which is described as a new variant “Games of Death”. According to Zary The fights in the film were the most difficult of her film career, as she tried to show the combat system on screen "Total Combat". Besides, in “Nui Lung” world champion will be removed Lee Charles and Russian sambist/judoka Vadim Kolganov, who practiced, among other things, Wing Chun, Muay Thai and Kali.

And it’s no secret that the same Cynthia shone in Hong Kong films! Even with the help of doubles. The same cannot be said about her films in America. With stupid and boorish choreography and a drunk cameraman who is absolutely incapable of filming such scenes of fights and stunts.
But Keanu can still be given his due. He's a hard worker!
I still remember the end of the 90s, when The Matrix was released on pirated cassettes. The people were really shocked! When everyone said - kung fu, Keanu!!! It was something unreal!
And by the way, the filming was superb!

It will be interesting what comes of this. ;)

neither Keanu Reeves nor Chow Yun Fat looked impressive.

I don’t agree with you even once, as I recently wrote, you probably didn’t see what Keanu could do before “The Matrix” and what he began to do after 7 or 8 months of training under the leadership of the Yen-Woo-Ping team. Of course, this is not Jet Li, not Jackie Chan or any other “movie” fighter, but damn, he really showed himself very well. The same goes for Chow-Yun-Fat - he played the warrior perfectly - where he could, he showed almost correct work with the “jian”, and where he didn’t, the understudy played excellently for him. :)

Coffin and Elvin, well, you and I can’t see this with the naked eye, but they still looked impressive. Many were especially impressed by the matrix and then told me about it. The mass audience got theirs, and we were left with a bagel.

<and the same Keanu Reeves in The Matrix looked impressive on the screen

In The Matrix, Reeves, with all due respect to him, looked like a drunk kid who had watched JCVD films in a video store and was trying to demonstrate kung fu to his drinking buddies :) Style - a drunken collective farmer :))

Well, yes, without the proper level of choreography it will not look impressive. Still, cinema and reality are two different things. We have seen many fighters who looked faded on the screen, and vice versa, the actor does not know how to fight, but on the screen the same Keanu Reeves in The Matrix, Chow Yun Fat in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, etc. looked impressive.

Yes, even if she is a thirty-time world champion, she still won’t look decent on camera with good choreography.
But the time for good choreography has passed. Unless the fire works with Sammo, Jackie or Donnie. Although Corey Yen and Yen Woo Ping might be able to do something with her.
It's a shame that Andy Chen and Brad Allan bet so little. They did it well.
For example, The Rock worked great in Amazon Treasures, and Vin Diesel handled fights very well in Bald Nanny.

Asian girl fighters are certainly good, but since the time of Cynthia there have been practically no one from other nationalities, naturally at Cynthia’s level. I would be glad to see her again, even in a non-combat scene. Well, let’s take a look at the new one, of course.
