In the 1930s, before the Western powers entered World War II, a Japanese death cult called the Temple of Hades is ordered to collaborate with the military to aid them in destroying China's spiritual health. Elite warriors believe that war can be won without the use of man-made weapons. They buy young children from poor parents and train them in martial arts to become assassins who will serve the Japanese Empire.

At the age of eight, Vajrasattva was sold along with the other children to the Temple of Hades. Forced to fight for food, he accidentally kills his brother and swears a secret oath of revenge on his captors. Many years later, having turned into the best killer of the Temple, he escapes to China and joins the ranks of the monks of Southern Shaolin, in which he gains spiritual enlightenment and vows to protect his country from the Japanese.
