Trailers for independent films Twisting Tiger, Yasuke: Descendants and web series The Elementals

Martial arts practitioner, stuntman, actor and action director Joseph Le is well known to those visitors to our site who try to track short films. However, Le began to increasingly appear as a specialist on the sets of expensive Hollywood films, such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) “Everything everywhere and at once” (2022) or "Knights of the Zodiac" (2023)

However, Le also does not forget about his directorial ambitions. Thanks to the company Turtle Wave and our own creative association Team Red Pro, Joseph directed a crime drama about kung fu.

The film is called "Rotating Tigers" (Twisting Tiger), which will revolve around a former sensei with PTSD who must break his vow of non-violence to save two guys from a murderous Asian gang.

The 30-minute film was shot last year, but is currently “travelling” through film festivals.

The following took part in the film: Tarell Cota Bullock (“Afro-Samurai Vinaigrette”), Smitty Tea (TV series "Bad Doctor"), Brandon Holam Lee (series “Generation”), Brandon Soo Hoo (“The Devil from the Cell Phone”) and others.

It is interesting that people like Armand Rabanal (“Mulan”, “G”), as well as representatives of the MartialArts team - Andy Le и Brian Le.

Let's hope we can watch the film this year. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer.

In 2018 director Calvert David Miles (“The Woman in Red”) and his company 3 Strands Of Rope Production took to crowdfunding sites to raise funds for an independent hand-to-hand action film called "Yasuke: Generations" (Yasuke: Descendants).

We had already forgotten about this project when a teaser for the film that actually took place appeared online.

Synopsis: the African samurai Yasuke, who actually served Lord Oda Nobunaga in the 16th century, goes beyond his historical past and is transported to modern Los Angeles, where the innocent family of an FBI agent suddenly finds himself at the center of an intense rivalry between generations of criminals Phoenix and Ryo - direct descendants of both the legendary Yasuke and Akechi Mitsuhide, the general who betrayed and killed the daimyo many centuries ago. It was then that a mystical family heirloom disappeared.

The main roles in the film went to Geechee Gamba ("Charlie's Angels"), Daniel Larracuente (TV series "Housekeeping"), June Mock (“12 rounds”), five-time champion kickboxing title holder Kevin Brewerton (“The Fifth Element”, “Hackers”, Dark Soul”) and himself Calvert David Miles.

"Yasuke" will be a full-length feature film that should go to film festivals in March 2022. For now, you can only look at the new teaser of the film.

Let’s finish today’s selection with another long-term construction project. This time from a director, screenwriter, martial arts practitioner and actor Jordana Kanna, who spent a long time collecting funds for his own fantastic web series called "Elementals" (The Elementals).

The plot will be based on the near future, in which people began to be born with certain deviations, giving them additional physical capabilities. Such people, called elementals, are considered outcasts, but delight the crowd with annual tournaments that are funded by all states. And the elementals will be mocked in the ring until one day one of them rebels.

Participating in the series: himself Jordan Cann ("Assassin's Creed", "From Paris to Rome"), Brandon Holam Lee (TV series “Generations”), Eric Michael Federman (“Enough is enough”), Kaylin Zeren (“The Girl from the Dojo”) and others.

The first episode of "Elementals" can be viewed quite legally on the official website. In the future, Cannes plans to release the series once every two months and offer to watch the series “for rental” using the video on demand system. Well, let's see what the active guys can do.
