First shot from Sammo Hungg's "Bodyguard"

Resource Twitchfilm shared with readers the first frame from "Bodyguard", first directorial work Sammo Hungga over the past 18 years. Let me remind you that he also starred in it and acted as a fight director. Starred in one of the episodic roles Andy Lau.

The plot of the film (unofficial, pieced together from various sources):

A retired bodyguard (Sammo Hungg) lives alone in a small town located somewhere between Russia, China and North Korea. For many years he blames himself for the disappearance of his granddaughter. One day, a man is diagnosed with dementia (acquired dementia), and soon after he meets a flower girl (Chen Peiyan), with whom he develops a friendship. But the young lady has one problem - her father (Andy Lau) is addicted to gambling and crosses the path of bandits. Events take a serious turn: the girl is kidnapped. And the old, but still strong-willed and bodyguard who has not yet lost his skills will do everything to save her.

Previously the film was called "The Old Soldier", and in Chinese distribution the film will be called as "My grandfather is a bodyguard". Filming took place in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang and Vladivostok. Instead of Andy Lau should have starred in the film Jackie Chan, but he had to turn down the offer in order to participate in his other projects. The film is expected to be released in August this year.

PS I dedicate my first post on the site to the memory of EvilDollaR. He once wrote to me that he would gladly trust me to publish news on the site. And now I will do it. In memory of Alexander and for the sake of his brainchild.

And the thought ran through my mind when I saw a post with Jacobas’ new short film (which I published), I thought: “Oh, damn, I just thought about it, and Evil has already published it” =)

Hah, after all, he mentally reminds himself of himself. :) But my heart, however, is sad. It’s as if we, the site’s guests, were immediately “orphaned” when Alexander left. I will always remember him as an intelligent and kind person. :)
