The film is directed by a Frenchman Julien Leclerc (“Informant”, “Raiders”), but who Van Damme’s partners in the acting ensemble will be is still unknown. However, they plan to shoot the film in January 2018. So all that remains is to wait.

The role of the warrior Hua Mulan went to a 30-year-old Crystal Liu (The Four trilogy), who speaks excellent English and has already starred in Hollywood projects such as: "Forbidden Kingdom" (2008) "Outcast" (2015) and "Chinese Widow" (2017). Liu, unlike Sarah Chang, does not practice martial arts, which did not prevent her from looking confident in the action scenes of previous films.
The director of the film has also been confirmed. It became Niki Caro, known for films such as "Riding a Whale" (2002) "Winemaker's Luck" (2009) "The Caretaker's Wife" (2017) and others. Unfortunately, more about the project is unknown.
